It is recommended that the engine ECU is reset after any engine performance modifications have been made to the vehicle, including using a higher octane fuel, to accelerate the learning of any new parameters. Resetting the ECU will also clear any stored error codes, however if you have a fault with your vehicle it is advisable that these codes are retrieved rather than wiped as they may help in diagnosing the problem.
- Make sure the ignition is turned off
- Remove the engine bay fuse box cover
- Remove the 20Amp/25Amp EFI fuse
- Remove the 15Amp ETCS fuse
- Wait 30 seconds
- Re-insert the two fuses
- Install the fuse box cover
It is also possible to reset the engine ECU by removing the battery. Please note that this method will also reset any memory settings such as radio presets, trip mileage, clock etc.
Good luck... and remember rated this help!!

1990 Lexus Ls 400. What tempture is my car suppose to run at?
your car should not be near that, it should stay at the middle line or a little under. You need to keep an eye on your radiator fluid level. I just changed the radiator and thermostat in my wifes car. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR IF ITS RUNNING THAT HOT, IT WILL BLOW YOUR MOTOR!!!
1993 Lexus LS400 acceleration stalls or surges
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. 93 LS 400. THAT WOULD BE YOUR FUEL FILTER OR THE FUEL PUMP GOING BAD. TRY CHANGING THE FILTER FIRST. THE DEALER TRIED TO CHARGE ME $980 TO CHANGE FUEL PUMP.

Catalytic converters glowing red
Hi ,
First you need to stop driving the car !,the problem you have is massive over fuelling causing the Cats to super heat this can cause a fire risk under the car,you need to take the car to a qualified mechanic/garage ASAP,You have probably damaged the Cats already but if you keep driving they will melt and colapse internally and block the exhaust gasses causing lack of performance and even non-start.
Does not read any fuel
if it doesnt read any fuel the sender might be bad or the wires from the sender or to the cluster is bad...check for power and ground off the sender in the fuel tank..
Check engine light comes on
that doesn't help too much. they can come on for a variety of reason, if you had the code that cause the check engine light to come on, it would allows us/me to provide you with advice on what to check/do....
Gear stuck in park
Turn the key to the left as hard as you can, as you turn the keys see if that works.
ON BARD DIAGNOSIS PANEL
Diagnostic panel should be under left drivers side console...near emergency brake release close to fuse box.
VSC light and check engine light intermittently
Yes. Did you recently have the oil changed?Air Filter? Alot of techs accidentally disconnect hoses to Air Filter housing. Check hoses, Oxygen sensor could need replacement. Try reseting the sensor lights by disconnecting the negative (-) battery cable for 20 seconds then reconnect and start car. Lights should be reset. If they come back on take to dealer or to AutoZone where they can do a free analysis of engine codes
Car will start but dies when pressing the gas pedal
It sounds like you have an issue with something in your air/fuel mixture electronics. This could be something in your throttle body, mas air flow sensor, or even an oxygen sensor. When your car is idling the air/fuel mixture is acceptable for the engine to run. When you press on the gas either too much gas is dumped in the engine or too little. If you look at your exhaust pipe you may notice a heavy built up of black soot. This would indicate that your vehicle is running extremely rich (too much gas), if your exhaust is very white then your vehicle is running lean (too little gas). The smell of the exhaust can also tell you something about how the engine is running. If it smells sweet it is running rich. I hope this helps and please don't forget to rate me.
