OIL LIGHT GOES OUT AT
I think you should have an accurate mechanical oil pressure test gauge installed in place of the oil sending unit and check to see what the actual oil pressure is. If it's 15 psi or so at an idle and about 35 psi or higher at 2500 rpm then your pressure is good and means you have some sort of issue between the sending unit and gauge. If the pressure is low, say below 10 or 5 psi at an idle with a warm engine and doesn't improve much at higher speeds then you actually do have low oil pressure, most likely due to worn bearings inside the engine. An accurate test gauge should tell the tale and help you figure out what is wrong. Hope this helps out a bit!
Loss of power on a lexus ls400
the ls400 had problems with the mass air flow meters acting up. You will have to have it tested because they are not cheap. U can get a used one for around 100.00. They cause the car to boog down while trying to accelerate. Check the wires going to the mass air flow to make sure they are making good contact. I have seen this cause a problem. The mass air flow is located on the hose that goes to the throttle body. I have a good one for a 94 to bad you do not live in texas. leave comment
Where is the altenator?
It runs off the belt toward toi lower rear section. A very nice place to put it . Engineering sucks sometimes with these guys designing cars
Engine stalls. 4 times engine stalls, let sit for
sounds to me that there could be an engine temperature switch that is malfunctioning or not working at all. the temperature switch tells the engine that its cold and that the fuel injection system should operate in cold mode. the switch then tells the computer to start the engine in cold mode. if it malfunctions, the engine controlling unit confuses itself and then cuts off. this is an early sign of that unit failing until the car won't start at all. it's just wear and tear and time that does these things. a good mechanic should help you out quick and should be a couple of ours work. good luck
My car is running hot, hasn't over heated as of
There are several things to check when your car is running hot.
1. Drain, flush and refill the radiator... flush it with alot of water to clean all the build-up out. If the radiator is plugged, it can be "rodded" where they actually open it up and "rotorooter" the tubes inside.
2. Thermostat and housing can be an issue... if it sticks shut, and if the housing is cracked...change it out.
3. Water pump: if the pump is failing, the coolant won't circulate well enough to cool. Tell-tale sign is coolant leaking out of the small drainhole on the housing of the water pump.
4. If the motor is running rough, you may have a blown head gasket allowing the coolant to enter the cylinder. You can check for foamy oil on the oil dipstick too.
So long answer to a short question... the thermostat may solve your issue, but check everything else as well.
Best of success!
Engine noise sounds like a lifter rattling
what are you asking? If it is a lifter, valve cover will have to be removed to check it.It could be that rockers need adjusting but if lifter is bad you will have to remove the intake manifold and replace lifter.
