Lost the code on my radio

Sometimes the dealer writes the code down in the owners manual, so that is a good place to start. From there the next step is to call the dealership and see if they can look the code up by the vehicles VIN number. The worst case is having to remove the radio, and retrieving the actual radio serial number, sometimes the dealer needs this to get the code.

The problem could be the contacts in the solenoid. The starters are not that expensive but to getting to it is very extensive. It is under the intake manifold. I had been having problems with my ls 400 (1990 with 275K miles) engaging the for quit some time and milked it out as long as I could.

Where is the starter on 1992 lexus ls400

Since all starters drive a flywheel inside the bell housing of the transmission, it is always situated close to the engine block with its drive gear poking into the transmission itself. Look for a large assembly looking a lot like a half of a ball that is attached to the engine.
This is true on most any motor vehicle.

How to replace fuel sending unit

The sending unit is on the top of the fuel tank. You have to drop the tank from the car. The fuel sending unit is in a connector that the fuel pump is on. This will have a retaining ring that you have to remove to get to the sending unit. Once you remove the ring then the fuel pump, sending unit will come out.

Will not crank

check you battery and cables. if ok check for power when someone tries to start it. if you have power hit the starter with a hammer (be careful not to break the starter) and if the starter is bad it may start when hit with a hammer. if that is the case then you will need to replace the starter.

My brake lights did not

Did you check to make sure no other fuses blew? I would also check your alternator and battery to make sure you dont have an over charging alternator causing fuses to blow.

I HAVE A 1990 LS

It could be a bad ignition switch or bad starter wire from the starter switch, or the PNP is not adjusted correctly:

Here are instructions on how to remove and replace the PNP, but read over it to understand how to adjust:
Park/Neutral Safety Switch REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ES300 1993-94 Models
  1. With the ignition switch in the LOCK position, disconnect the negative battery terminal. If equipped with an air bag system, wait at least 90 seconds or longer before performing any other work.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the Park/Neutral switch connector.
  4. Remove the clip from the shift control cable.
  5. Remove the nut and control cable.
  6. Remove the bolts and pull out the Park/Neutral switch. To install:
  7. Install the Park/Neutral switch and loosely install the bolts.
  8. Adjust the switch and torque the bolts to 48 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  9. Install the control shaft lever.
  10. Install the control shaft cable and torque the nut to 9 ft. lbs. (13 Nm). Fig. 1: The transaxle control shaft lever has a nut and washer to retain it - 1993-94 ES300 54617.gif

  13. Adjust the Park/Neutral as follows:
    1. Install the manual shift lever to the Park/Neutral switch and set the shift lever to the neutral ( N) position.
    2. Align the groove and the neutral basic line on the Park/Neutral switch.
    3. Hold the Park/Neutral switch in this position and tighten the two bolts to 48 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  14. Install the manual shift lever with washer and nut.

  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
  16. Verify that the vehicle will only start in the N or P positions.
---
Maybe try to press the brake pedal and run the gear shift throughout the full range of gears while the car is on level ground, and retry the starter to see if there is a faulty PNP adjustment.

Try to start in Neutral not Park, and jiggle the gear shift back and forth to see if the PNP is not adjusted right.

Good luck on this repair.

Need to replace right front wheel bearing

Remove the wheel and tire ***'y. remove the brake caliper to get it out of your way, then take the dust cap off the rotor where you'l find a nut with acover and a cotterpin. remove the cotter pin, nut coverand loosen the nut, the rotor will come off. the outer bearing will immediately come out if ti's not buried into the race. Remove the inner bearing by knocking out the which you'll need to replace as well. actually to do the job right , replace both races, bearings and the seals. the races and bearings have to wear together and using new bearings on old races is just asking for trouble soon, as they do not wear together like they should. Pack bearings with new grease, install the new races, put some extra grease inside the rotor so the bearings and races will have plenty of lube, install the inner bearing then the seal, put the rotor on the spindle, install the outer bearing nuut, tighten the outer nut just until the rotor rotates one to two revolutions when spinning freehand andinstall the nut cover and the cotter pin, caliper wheel and tire, you're finished, good luck.
