Replaced battery and alternator. Vehicle

Welcome to Fixya
A quick way on how to determine if the alternator is charging the battery is to start the car and turn on the headlights. If the headlights are dim, it indicates the lights are running off the battery and that little or no juice is being produced by the alternator. Rev the engine and see if the lights will get brighter. If light gets brighter it means the alternator is producing some current but may not be producing enough at idle to keep the battery properly charged.
Another way to check is to use a voltmeter and connect it to the battery. Start the engine and the volt should jump to 14.5 or higher.

Can i recive codes from

To check the computer for CODES:
1. Ignition switch ON. Engine OFF
2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons on the climate control panel for 3 seconds and release them
3. See if you get codes such as AC1347 or AC1348 or some other LETTER/NUMBER combination display on the fuel data display along with HISTORY or CURRENT with each code or codes that display...
- AC1312 = AC high side temp sensor has an open circuit.
- AC1314 = Evaporator inlet temp sensor has an open circuit.
- AC1348 = Very low AC refrigerant condition.

Try addind about 1/2 can of freon to the system and see if the compressor engages. If not, you will need to perform some diagnostic tests on the above codes. I can e-mail you the pictures and directives on how to fix the codes, But first you need to clear (ERASE) the codes from the computer and see which codes return as current or history codes which should display just after each code.

4. After the code or codes display you will see PCM?
5. Turn ignition OFF.

To clear the codes:
1. Re-enetr diagnostics like you did before and when you see PCM?
2. Push and release the LO button and you will see IPC?.
3. Push and release the LO button and you will see ACM?.
4. Push and release the HI button and you will see ACM CODES?
5. Push and release the LO button and you will see ACM CLEAR CODES?
6. Push and release the HI button and you will see ACM CODES CLEAR.
7. Turn OFF ignition key and wait 2 minutes and re-enter diagnostics like I told you in the previous e-mail and let me know what codes appear and if they are CURRENT or HISTORY.

Hope helped.

Where is the fuse box

On the 96, so far I've found two locations for fuse boxes. The first is on the drivers side in the engine compartment behind the air filter housing. there is a plastic shield.

The other place is a PITA to get to. Get into the truck and remove the cloth lining from the back of the seats. It's on the passengers side. To remove this cloth, there are four or five bolts on the underneight side of the trunk deck (get in the trunk, look up).

I think there is one more place inside, but I can't find it. It might be under the dash or in one of the kick panels. Still looking for it. Crazy ole GM.
