What type of oil do i use in my audi a6 2.8
5w30 is recommended up to 100 degrees. over that and it is recommending a
20w50. I would use a good synthetic 5w30 which is good for much higher
temperatures and will easily perform well in the +100 degree range as
well as the -0 temp range. Mobil 1 or Amsoil fit the bill nicely.

Had to make a sudden
Sounds as though you are in need of a brake job. Your brake pads and or rotors may need replacing or your master cylinder may be on its way out... and most likely sooner than later. I wouldn't keep driving the car if you can't reliably stop the vehicle. Take it to an inspection facility or someone like Midas where they inspect for free and tell you what the problem is.

Ignition switch was sticking
It sounds like you have more than one problem with your Audi. The coolant leak and the ignition switch are two separate issues. I would recommend that you take the car to the Audi dealer or to an independent garage that specializes on German cars and have the vehicle checked.

How to install a timing
Hi
If you are not familiar with the timing I would not recommend you doing the work yourself, this is a major job to a novice. The timing keeps the engine in sync so that nothing contacts each other, the pistons and the valves, cam etc all have to do there job at a set time within a split second, a mistake on timing can result in complete enegine failure and meaning in most cases new cylinder head, new belts, tensioners, pullys, water pump, gasket etc etc etc.
I would get it into a garge as it is a staright forward task for them although does take a few hours and is often quite costly because of this. average price for a regular car is £225 for an Audi it could be more like £400 thats assuming you are in the UK.

Dan

Location of windshield washer pump
I have yet to see the car made after 1980 which does not have that pump built into the bottom of the reservoir. i am sure that car is out there, nonetheless and audi may well be that car. in case i am wrong take a look at the bottom of the washer reservoir and see if there aren't two wires plugged in and a hose coming out. if that is where it is, the next step is to jumper the battery directly to the plugs to make sure the pump is not working. if the pump works your problem is elsewhere, like the switch. if the pump does not work call a dealer and ask them if it can be replaced without buying a whole new reservoir assembly. if the pump is not inside the reservoir then just follow the hose, it has to find the pump eventually.
