Engine not working on gasoline

Possible fault is the fuel shut off solenoid is not operational ( possible fuse ). there by allowing the fuel pump to work and pressurise the fuel manifold.. As it is connected to a gas system I would pay the money and have the car running properly.. For all gas/ petrol combinations it is a very good idea to use alternate fuels on a regular basis . Gas for a couple of days and petrol for a day or two.

Fludic verna headlight is very poor???chould i add cutout and use more 100/90 w bulb to get more light...which cutout brand is good

The standard lights are quite good enough if the reflectors and lens are really shiny and not partially rusted. Large bulbs run the risk of melting the plastic reflectors costing new head lights. Adjusting the head lights to correct beam height will also help. You can use relays in the system. Disconnect the wires to the back of the bulbs and attach then to the trigger pins of the relay (4 relays-2 high beam L+R and 2LBeam L+R). Run fused power wires from the battery to the power pin of the relay and out to the beam pin of the bulb. earth the bulbs as normal. The operation works like this You switch on the lights to low beam and the power from the switch energises the relay and drops in the contacts which allows power from the battery ,through the bulb low beam to earth. Switching to high beam energises the relay and allows power from the battery through the relay and out to the high beam part of the bulb through to earth. You have full 12 volts to the lights and reduced current through the light switch. 4 relays --1 each for each light low and 1 each for each light high. jump the wire from each beam position between relays of the same light so that they work off the one wire from the switch

My 1991 suzuki swifts drives well until i get to

Dear Bevan O\'Donnell,This is a typical simtomes where a car run out of fuel. There is a few thing you need to have a look at, 1) if you open the fuel tank does it suck air in and can you hear an sucking sound as the air rush in to the fuel tank. If so then you need to change the fuller cap. The filler cap has a breather hole in it and when it get blocked a vacuum will form in the tank, 2) Does it have a electric fuel pump? if so then the fuel pump might have a electrical fault on it. It will pump and work normal till it reach a certain temperature where it does not pump as strong as it should. Normaley after a while when the pump has cooled down it work as it should. 3) The valve body fitted with the airflow box that control the temperatures and air flow in to the engine might be damaged. this can tell the computer to give more fuel or not enough fuel to the engine till it cuts out.4) There might be some dirt in the fuel tank that float in the fuel that block the pickup in the tank and or the fuel filter might be dirty. Please let me know if this fix you problem.Kind regardsWimpie

Has anyone heard of spraying wd40 on engine to get it to start?

Nope. You can spray WD40 inside the distributor cap to help dry out any moisture inside. Are you getting spark to the plugs ?

You may have an issue with the solenoid. This is the one that selects the gear for you. It is found inside the transmission and has wires coming out of it. It may be just dirty or needs repelacement.

Not getting fuel to the

On your Swift, there's probably a fuel filter located just off the gas tank that's somewhat hard to spot. It also takes a bit of finesse to get a wrench in position to change the filter, and so this part is often not changed out until it's completely plugged. I would suggest changing this filter to see if this makes any difference. However, even a plugged filter normally allows a bit of gasoline to dribble through.

A second possibility is that your fuel pump isn't working properly. I don't have my reference materials in front of me, but I believe that this car is equipped with an electric pump, as opposed to a mechanical pump on the engine. If your fuel pump isn't working, you won't get fuel delivery through the lines to your engine. Also, the fuel pump may have failed from having to work extra-hard to compensate for a partially or wholly blocked fuel filter (see above).

I would trouble-shoot both these items; I suspect that one or both of them are contributing to your fuel problem. I have seen a number of Swifts / Metros sold "as-is" or sent to the junk yard for running poorly when their only problem is a clogged fuel filter.
