make you a loop on one end and see if you can get it through and slip the loop over the door handle and give it a pull.

the switch itself must be changed ,the fault is the switch as their is no other unit ,it should just prise out the facia on this vehicle,hang on this is the american vehicle not out europeon similar named vehicle but it could be the same so ask a local mechanic with experiance to confirm would be a good idea
