1998 Chrysler Sebring - Page 3 Questions & Answers
I have a 97 sebring
you need to check the crank shaft sensor, it is mounted in the transmission bell housing, we see allot of cracks in the sensors that when they get wet the mostier gets into the sensor and fouls up the signal, it is a pretty easy fix.....GOOD LUCK
let me know if there is any thing else i can do for you.
1998 Sebring Jxi convertiable turn over but want start
Make sure you have spark and fuel. when you first turn the key to the "ON" position you should be able to hear the fuel pump whirr or run for about 3 seconds to prime the fuel system, if not you need to check the fuel pump fuse and the fuel pump relay to make sure the fuel pump is getting power when you turn the key on. If you can hear the pump run and do have fuel pressure, then you need to make sure the engine has spark. You can do this by removing a spark plug from the engine and putting it back into the plug wire, make sure the metal bottom of the plug is touching a metal part of the engine and have someone crank on the engine while watching the gap in the electrode of the plug. You should have a very sharp blue spark jump the gap in the electrode. If you have no spark or a weak orange looking spark then I would look to the crank sensor or the coil.
1998 sebring wont crank over
If the engine will not crank, a mechanic would check for voltage at the battery, the starter, the neutral safety switch, and the key switch. If the engine cranks but will not start, you would need to find out if you are dealing with a no spark or no fuel issue to proceed.
Car alarm preventing car from starting
Try removing the alarm system relay, some car alarm has also a fuse on the alarm that you can remove.
Many car alarms unlock by inserting and turning car key while you connect the battery.
Key ignition is stuck ans
Turn your steering wheel left or right side. If it moves, then good for you. But if doesn't, it probably means that locking system in the steering wheel is damaged. For this, you can just turn the steering wheel opposite to the direction of the car wheels. Most of the time, cars are turned off with the wheels turned on the opposite directions, which makes the key get stuck in the ignition due to pressure in the steering wheel. When the pressure is released from the steering column, a click can be heard and key is released.
If no luck, there might be a problem with shifter mechanism, which means that you have a trip to the repair shop in store for you. Get this problem addressed immediately, as it could mean that your shift interlock is out of order, which can increase the chances of deploying the air bag up in your face, causing a serious injury.
How to replace radiator on a 1998 chrysler sebring
Sorry, the question is so vague and all encompassing.
My initial response, and not to be curt, is remove the lower radiator hose and drain the coolant (if there isn't a petcock elsewhere on the radiator), remove the upper radiator hose, disconnect the automatic transmission oil cooler pipes (I would cover them with tinfoil and rubber band or cable tie the doubled tinfoil), remove the bolts holding the radiator in place and replace it. Other problems such as electric cooling fans for the engine may have to be removed, but you'd have to look at the car and see.
How do you remove stabilus lift-o-mat liftgate
Most of these lift struts can be removed by propping up the gate and prying off the strut ends from their balljoint ends. Some struts have a broad metal band that acts as a spring or retainer and you may have to slide that band off and then pop the old strut off.
To put the new one on, just center the socket over the strut and press it on or tap it with a small hammer. Make sure you put it on with the strut body either up or down the same way as the one you took off. Normally the body goes to the car and the shaft to the tailgate/hatch/trunk.
My exwife had someone replace
Probably the starter gear is binding on the flywheel after the reinsatlation. If your turning it over with a wrench then that leads me to the starter.
Panel lights not lighting up
The panel where the ac/heater controls light up with 2 tiny bulbs placed right behind the round controls that turn the ac/heat on and the one that turns the setting from red to blue. theres 2 screws holding the panel on the dash and those are right under the radio. You'll need some needle nose pliers to get to the bulbs and they sell the bulbs at walmart.
Where is alternator located
in front of engine on left when standing at the front of the car looking into the engine. Right at the top beside the air compressor lines/hose, behind the left side of the radiator.
