have a 97 Cirrus, 2.5L, box is black, near battery, sits on top of ECM/PCM which has wire harness plugs going into top. if not on top ECM should be next to it?

This should work if it is a factory alarm, first roll the window down on the drivers side door then manually lock and shut the door, then unlock the door with the key and see if that shuts it off!

The controller is probably bad so it goes into failsafe mode. There are companies that repair elevtronic heater control modules online.

Did you check out the fuses

If alternator and battery is good, check the ground cables from the battery to the motor and frame grounds.

It sounds like the problem lies with the transmission, have it diagnosed by a local shop.

The radiator could be plugged with debris from minerals in the water.

Could be a faulty switch on the parking brake or the master cylinder.

Sounds as if there is one or more cylinders misfiring. Possible defective ignition coil/spark plug/s/ or ignition wires. IS the vehicle blowing black smoke out the tail pipe? If so, another possibility could be an over fuel situation caused by a defective sensor or leaking fuel pressure regulator. My guess would be a mis fire causing the engine to not fire on all cylinders

Don't have an answer but I am stuck on mine still I used a wedger a pry bar got it so far and still stuck getting the CV Axel out heck I even wasted a whole can of pb blaster for this job its a 1996 Chrysler Concorde lx

have your engine steamed wash first. your engine might be soaked with transmission fluid and when the engine warms up, oil starts to heat up and cause it to smoke.

Have the cooling system pressure tested with a special tool and see if the source of the leak is the water pump, also feel under the pump for antifreeze.

You may have disturbed a connector or a ground point while doing the timing belt or blown a fuse supplying the panel.

i would find out what replaceable solonoids it functions on and what other electronic replaceable parts, some may be beyond thevpan

rpms run so high??? if the engine RPM rises real high driving in gear. and the car dont move faster, in DIRECT Proportions.? then that is called transmission slip (or clutch slip) if how ever, the the above is not HAPPENING then , that means the engine IDLE Controls are out of CONTROL this is caused for 2 (macro) reasons. 1: Engine, is running very bad (50 causes) iSC is VICTIM here) 2; or Not THAT but is the ISC idle control bad or stuck. #1 and #2 have many tests to find true cause, take ASE class and see, them all. you burned up your P/S pump. all that must be replaced, when any belt fails we check all pulleys on that belt for seized parts. (hand spun, and or damage or in your case ignoring fluid loss. then when running, we listen to it with a 5 buck stethoscope. for the right sound. dig? the bearings can be heard to go bad way before total death and destructing, sure can.. ISC = IDLE SPEED CONTROLLER.
