YES-especially with the larger amounts of ethanol being mixed into the newer fuels. Try some seafoam available at walmart and napa, follow directions on can. And use better grades of fuel.

Audi a3 1.8 non turbo
A rough idle can be due to poor timing./fuel tuning. So an examination of the spark plug will give the indication of the firing of all the cylinders with which we can confirm . If the spark plugs are burnt then the fuel mixture is good but if there is a black soot or soggy smear then the fuel settings are high or the spark intensity is low.
So you need to check on the fuel pressure-- have the pump calibrated .
Check the spark intensity , it must be good or the HT coils or the electronic ignition is faulty as the trigger can be low. Check also the timing. it is good to have the job done at the service outlet.

Just changed the gearbox ecu
I suggest re-check fluid levesl correctly, and test your Trans Module with one scanner reader tool, to test if this device is working fine, if not, its possible that you have some internal problem with the valve body and will need one cleaning job or issues with the solenoids. Test check it and keep us updated.

When do u change the cambelt on a audi 4 2.5
Hi,
The manufacturer recommendation is 100K kilometers, they forget the traffic and idling operation of the engine. Most mechanics would recommend the safest time, that would be 70K kilometers or 3.5 years which ever comes.
Replacing the timing belt with tensioner bearing is must when you replace one of them.
Hope that helps you out.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

does the check engine light come on or flash when the running issue starts? sounds like you have an ignition coil dropping out intermittenly.

Convertible top stopped working
I had a problem with top not working. The first time it was the micro switch, the second time, within 6 months of that apparently water had gotten to the wiring and had rotted it. I was advised to only ever remove and replace the top on a flat surface. Hope this helps

Iam planning to buy Audi A4..I would like to know
I have an Audi A4 and love the car.Super comfortable ride and one of the safer cars on the market. The downside is the cost of maintenance. Parts and labor are rather pricey. My advice would be to find a trusted mechanic and get some estimates for routine jobs such as brake repair and tune ups. Some jobs are expensive such as timing belt replacement, etc. Also the motor in your potential car is important as far as cost goes. Turbocharged engines require synthetic oil changed at lower intervals than a non turbo motor. Also they all require super gas. Insurance costs are dependent on your company and driving record. The car itself should not command any higher premium than comparable cars such as the VW Passat. You can get a quote from your company.

My roof on my audi convertible wont go
Look for the micro switches that tell the car what position the top is in.l These tend to go bad and the car loses the location of the top. The switch that looks at the storage area is not telling the car it is already down.

Radio has very weak signal
This can be traced to a couple of things, first check all the connections between the antenna and the radio for corrosion and tightness. This could also be related to the relative design of the antenna. The Lexus could have a better design, or location, and this could be why you receive better on its radio.

The car turns over strong, but it cranks several
This seems to be normal for many cars however I understand your frustration. Does it crank over excessively? How may seconds goes by while cranking? Is it more aggravating to you than worry? Two things that may be occurring. Spark. Spark may be delayed by timing, or spark may be cold. Fuel pressure may be low or fuel system may need professional cleaning. Fuel or spark is the problem. Given the fact that is doesn't do this when it is hot leads me to believe that it is not camshaft position (timing), and it's doesn't seem to be fuel. I would concentrate on spark and ignition. A tune up may be in order with high performance plugs.

Audi a4 bonnet release mechanism broken
This can be over come by getting a pair of vise grips and gripping the cable that is sticking out and pulling it out, once you have opened it Do not attempt to close the hood without replacing the cable. You have maybe only one chance at this so if you don't succeed you will make it harder for a mechanic to fix it. a new cable is not to difficult to replace, buy the cable and housing replace both.
