Volvo XC90 2005 model. The CD-changer has hanged.

Well you can't fix the problem yourself, the reason is Volvo does not sell parts to the public for this deck or any audio device used in there cars, all they will sell you is an exchange unit, the dealer is most likely doubling the cost of repair for the unit, it is a common practice, so if you send the unit out yourself you can save many hundreds of dollars, Below you will find a web link to a radio repair site, they can provide the instructions (there is a link at the web site towards the bottom of the page it is called the "Install Doctor") to remove the deck and will send a shipping container to send it in to them for repair, in most cases the cost is less than $300.00.

I have a 2005 XC 90 V-8. the power steering fluid

Hi
it could be a few things

Firstly if there is foam then there must be air, I would imagine that it could be a tiny seal from either the steering rack or from one of the fluid pipe, on the other hand if it has ran low then you topped it up that could cause air also, although normally that come out naturally, with the car running and the cap off.

It does sound like there may be a fualty pump to blame but I would have all the seals checked before replacing the pump needlessly. power steering fluid can often dry up before it starts to drip so can be tricky to find a leak, look up the bulkhead from under the car if you can, I would think either the steering rack has a slight leak or one of the pipes has a pin hole in it.

Also be casreful because a car with power steering once the pump fails, can happen at any time will make the steering very hard to turn, not what you want really when your not expecting it, so do take care and have it looked at asap.

Regards
Dan

Bracket on air con pipe is broken, garage says it

The pipes are made of aluminum and do crack from age on the weld or near the welds. Usually they are hard to find for most brackets are welded near the compressor where the pipes attach to. The bracket is there to secure the lines from bouncing around while the engine is running. If you see a thick rubber hose coming from the compressor follow that and you may see where the bracket was attached to. The rubber covers the aluminum pipe to insulate and to protect it as well

I have a 2005 Volvo XC90 and I am having problems

As you mentioned that Ac goes ON/OFF .But it cools for 15 to 20 seconds this clears that compressor is actually coming On and working. So try this.If the ac stops, spray water on the the radiator , and see If it comes back on,if yes then its probably the fault in thermostat. The thermostat stops working or gets weak and this makes engine over-hot and this stops the ac.If the thermostat checks out ok then another possible thing could be this air filter (cabin filter) is clogged. Usually it is located in the plastic duct work in the car behind the glove box.Either blow it out with compressed air to clean it, or leave it out. Then check by turning ON the ac. If the thermostat and filter both checked out ok.Then the other possibility is to check the AC clutch. The clutch is not engaging. The clutch on the a/c compressor can no longer engage when hot.Find your compressor and see if the clutch is engaging (cycling on and off). If the engine is overheating or there is an engine miss fire the PCM will turn of the A/C compressor to save engine load. The Compressor clutch has to cycle on and off. If it is staying on all the time than that can lead to extremely high pressure in your A/C systems and can mess up a lot of things including making your engine overheat. Check out whats going on with your compressor. The drain lines can be cleared by inserting a wire with a small hook on the end of the drain tubes to clear out any obstruction. This has to be done from under the car. The other possibility to check is blend door actuator is it stuck up or broken. also check out for any leakage in the ac pump and its passing lines.Getting ac pressure checked will help to check for the leakage. Other thing to get checked is the air-conditioning expansion valve is probably not working properly. Also check the ac fan switch and motor. If the motor or the switch is got weak or short then ac will start but the weak fan switch or motor will make the ac stop and it will again start after few seconds but will again go off. Check out both the fans .Main climate fan (blower motor) the other fan ,the in-car temp sensor fan. Pull the dashboard in an XC-90 to replace the main climate fan (blower motor) the other fan ...the in-car temp sensor fan requires removal of the climate control panel. Look into the little grill on the climate panel and if you see a ball of lint in it get a can of compressed air for computer cleaning (local office supply store) and blow the dust out of that grill as there is a temp sensor in there that needs to read the in-car temp and the dust will insulate it thus not controlling temperature correctly. The fan needs to be cleaned and checked. Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation
