Can I use regular unleaded

new cars have so many engine sensors built in that they automatically adjust from one type of fuel to another.

premium fuel usually has a higher octane rating which should give slightly more power, but most people will never notice the difference while driving the car as the difference is quite small.

switching from one type of fuel to another should certainly not harm the car in any way.

hope this helps

Is it normal for the temperature to stay at 210 on

temps vary from 190 to 220 depending on the design. what will change this is the radiator cap. it controls the pressure in the system, higher pressure is also a higher running temp. if you didn't change any components then the temp sounds right. if it gets to about 250 then worry

Windshield wipers working intermittently. Sometimes

This is the wiper motor failing...But to be safe unplug wiper motor, turn on wiper switch, connect test light to negative side of battery or good solid metal ground and stick probe in connector.if it is not working and the test light is not on then the wiper switch has failed.....and if the test light comes on at connector the wiper motor has failed..Since it works intermittently have an assistant to work the wiper switch and test a number of times to be sure. You can buy a cheap test light that will be good enough to check this at any auto parts store...BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR TEST MAKE SURE TEST LIGHT
HAS GOOD GROUND BY CLAMPING TO NEGATIVE SIDE OF BATTERY AND TOUCH PROBE TO POSITIVE SIDE OF BATTERY TO ENSURE GOOD CONNECTION...LIGHT WILL COME ON.

I recently purchase a 2004 XC90 with over 200k

This is the turbo air cooler hose and most of them have some oil in them from the turbo. i would replace the hose and keep an eye on it, the problem may be a worn turbo. the turbo is sucking in oil, the turbo may need replacing but i would nt replace it right now, just replace the hose and keep an eye on the engine oil level, if the turbo is working and the engine is not using oil and you dont see smoke coming from the exhaust system when accelerating then just replace the hose for now, hope this helps.

2005 XC90 shifter is locked - can only shift

check the button that you push in on your shifter. will the shift button not go all the way back into the shifter like normal. can you pull it out toward the dash? be easy when doing so to keep from breaking it. something has broken inside the shifter and allows the button to come out too far. try sticking ur finger in the shifter behind the button and realign the button. the button should go all the way into the shifter when it is aligned. it's only a temporary fix but will get you home.
