Put new pump in tank suzuki vitara v6 petrol being

Hello! I suspect a defective Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor. It is located on the top of the tank...It has a 3 wire connector...Wire colors are...Brown/Red...Gray/Yellow...And Gray/Red...It cost around $260...But it can be tested but difficult to get at unless you drop the tank...Set volt meter to read 5 volts...Using two safety pins, push one into the rear of the in place connector on the outside pin (Brown/Red) and the other on the other outside pin (Gray/Red)...Turn on key...connect meter + probe to the rear right side pin and the - probe to the rear left side pin...Must read +5 volts...Move the right rear pin to the middle wire (Gray/Yellow)...Must read 3.3 volts...If you do not read the proper voltage the sensor is defective...

Mixed up ht leads what order do they go in.

You did not specify which engine your Vitara has, the 4 or 6 cylinder, so here are both layouts. For front of vehicle, read ' side of engine where pulleys are'. If your distributor layout is different, locate the position of #1 wire with the engine at TDC compression and follow the firing order around the cap in a clockwise direction:-

99 vitara need to instal

Just dis-connect the electrical plug and unscrew the old sensor. Once out, screw the new sensor in and connect the plug. If the new sensor doesn't have an o-ring on it near the thread it'd be a good idea to put some thread tape on it to make sure oil doesn't leak out. To remove the old sensor and intall the new one there's actually a specially socket you can buy that has a slot in it for the wires. It can also be done with a spanner but the sensors can sometimes be very tight. Be careful not to let the spanner slip as it may round off the nut or even cause personal injury.
