98 JEEP XJ 4.0 PO138 CODE ENGINE RUNS GOOD BUT CEL IS ON

99 or 98/, you showed both in the the blue box great the 4.0L engine displacement, nobody ever post engine. congrats The CEL glowing is and OBD2 feature, it tells you things that are about to fail and things that have/ The ECU can even mimic bad sensors. (poorly) and fool you in to thinking car runs good, this magic cuts smog big time) P0 is a federal code (USA) and is a standard. this car has 2 oxygen sensor. one front and 1 rear. the rear is failing. (bad sensor, road damaged or wires cut or melted) it only is used to detected a bad Catalyst converter. it monitors the CAT. it will not effect engine fueling rates. The front sensor is the imporantant one. most folks ignore it , unless getting smogged, the B1S2 oxy sensor is sending an illegal output. way over 1v. caused by a cut wire to same. (it floats high) or inside the sensor the heater B+ is shorted to the sensor output.. bad sensor or cut wires.

Have no power to coil or fuel pump wont start speedomater say no bus

blown fuse? my 2002 has no way for speedo to say or display that. no power, what does that mean. 1: cant hear it. 2: my voltmeter shows 0v cranking. what? here is a little rule on pumps fuel no spark no fueling. so spark is first. always and rule 2, the pump on most (1/2?) never pump until cranked. (fire prevention and other reason, ask)

No power to fuel and coil

what engine, 4.0Liter? systems vary by engine options. my 99 had a 4L. (or 2.7L v6?) what are the over all symptoms? my guess: 1: wont start.? 2: no engine power, or misfires with OBD2 P0300 codes.? now 12v DC power to fuel pump or coil means the fuse blew. check the fuses in the 2 fuse panels, the 2.7L has 6 COPs, 6 ignition coils and all run off of the fuse #2 , called, "IG COIL" (cab fuse box) btw 2: if the coils are dead, the ECU/PCM cuts all fuel, it just hates a fire. programming................

My name Ilsur, I of Tatarstan , I have a jeep Grand cherokee WJ laredo 1999 4.0 error P0123 I replaced TPS but nothing helps, replaced the clockspring does not help, help me please

i had the same car.... what mileage.... 200K? TPS errors. (its real its a real measured error) this error is catastrophic, , meaning, not just a tad off, the FSM covers this in details. clock spring, the Air bag clock spring? has nothing to do with this. or do you meant the throttle return spring, (my guess?) the TPS output pin was discovered to have an illegal high voltage on the output (you can be sure it idid) spec: TP Sensor indicated more than 4.50v for 700 ms. caused by a bad TPS ground wire, or the output pin cut. or the TPS internals are cracked in half (bad inside) (i have photos) its bad TPS or bad wires to it. simple huh? it will not be a bad ECU. as is on the list; it will not. The jeep has great cheap TPS to buy ofter market, on other cars not, and can cost $300 , for them i connect my potable scope and watch the TPS output while i drive. and find out if it is really truly bad.... hell the part, costs more than my scope.! be happy its not new car with throttle by wire, !!! or the big V8 , whole new throttle body for $1000 recap. bad TPS, bad wires. the tps on most cars are calibrated. if you just thrown on a new TPS and not calibrate it, that is a big failure. here are the steps 1 key off 2 remove TPS. 3: put back new. 4: The TPS is mounted to the throttle body. The throttle shaft end of throttle body slides into a socket in the TPS. The TPS must be installed so that it can be rotated a few degrees. (If sensor will not rotate, install sensor with throttle shaft on other side of socket tangs). The TPS will be under slight tension when rotated.
  1. Install TPS and retaining screws.
  2. Tighten screws to 7 Nm (60 inch lbs.) torque.
  3. Connect TPS electrical connector to TPS.
  4. Manually operate throttle (by hand) to check for any TPS binding before starting engine.
adjust the TPS for 0.26 volts at minimum throttle opening (idle) worst case: the FSM says it auto calibates if the new TPS errors,. set it to 1/4 volt at idle. reset ECU , all DCTs using scan tool pull battery for 5min neg. lug (backup radio codes first) put back lug start engine, drive 25miles or till CEL comes on (failures)

1999 jeep showing code p1686

P1686 is a SKIM (Sentry Key Immobilizer Module) no signal code. The keys have tiny chips in them that have to match the SKIM module for that vehicle, if they dont match then the engine will stop running after a few seconds. This is to keep theives from making a key and driving away with you vehicle.
First of all, do you have 2 keys? If so try the other one, if it works, then the other sentry key (the one that didn't work before) has bit the dust. If both do not work and both seem to have same symptoms, then it is quite possibly the module under the sterering wheel cover attached to back of ignition switch which reads the sentry key and if it gets signal from sentry key, then it sends a signal to pcm allowing start up to complete with no shutdown. If this unit is bad, unfortunuately just replacing it is no help, because after replacement a DEALER must then program both the unit and your keys. Make sure you give the dealer both keys, as both have to be reprogrammed to the new unit, if only one is done, the other will not work.
