1987 Isuzu Trooper Questions & Answers
How do you fix the
The idle screw is on the throttle body near where the gas pedal cable attaches to it. Not sure what sensors it has and less familiar with pre 90's cars but if it has an IAC or TPS could be causing problems. Clean the throttle body/carb.
How do i adjust the clutch on a 87 isuzuz trooper
The cluch is operated by a cable, the adjustment is at the fire wall in the engine compartment [drivers side] on the cable. To adjust the cable loosen the lock nut, then loosen adjusting nut for more freeplay or tighten for less freeplay. Freeplay is checked at clutch pedal, it should have approx. 1/2 to 3/4 inch of freeplay.
After my 92 rodeo runs awhile it falls on its face
THROTTLE BODY needs to be taken apart and cleaned. Hand clean the sensor and idle valve, they are electric do not soak them, check them also, Idle valve likes to stick and position sensor likes to go out. HUNT
I have replaced the throttle position sensor, egr
Check the Idle accelerator valve located on front side of throttle body, it is either stuck or needs cleaning real bad, this is what controls your idle speed, by letting small amount of air in. It has a plunger on it that moves back and forth slowly to adjust amount of air mixture, it is controlled by computer. Unplug it and just turn on key and check for voltage. This valve gets real gummed up, probably need to take apart throttle body and clean. HUNT
CLUTCH PLATE LINING BURNED OR GLAZED OR BURNED OR
Not much longer in your 25 year old vehicle. Burned means it is slipping. As such the face is wearing away and will soon expose the rivets which will dig groves into your fly wheel and clutch plate. The longer you wait, the worse it will get.
To repair, expect to resurface or replace the fly wheel and the clutch pressure plate as well as the clutch plate and throwout bearing.

Automatic or manual? If it's an automatic, torque converter. If it's a manual, It's probably just that the input shaft is stuck in the clutch disc or flywheel... "there is nothing that can't be solved with brut strength and and a big prybar" seriosly though I had a Merceades once where the owner had diven it the a bad throw-out bearing for for long that the bearing was just about welded to the tranmission. Nothing to do but force it apart.
