got got spark on all cylinders. yes does test fuel work for 3 seconds/?
in the USA< (are you) all 1996 cars have OBD2 ECUs.
and as such , all scantools work.
so , see the D shapped, 16 pin connector (female) near knees?
plug i there, and
crank for 5 seconds,
release key
see DTCS there, sure, and is the cause.
if not, you lost fuel pressure, and test fuel works.
easy huh, and works on all cars
automatic???????????????????????????
say what exactly there are 100s of pages
just the tranny solenoid page?
alldata.com has this.
as does the FSM (factory serv. man)
to what? transmission or is the EGR mod or?
what year, trooper.
and what engine.
modulator means zero.
the injectors are modulators, the ISC is, and many other parts.
the car has systems. name just one,
2.0 L G200I4 (UBS13)
2.3 L 4ZD1 I4 (UBS16)
2.6 L 4ZE1 I4(UBS17)
2.2 L C223diesel/turbodiesel I4(UBS52)
2.8 L 4JB1diesel I4
2.8 L 4JB1-Tturbodiesel I4
2.0 L G200I4 (UBS13)
2.8 L LH7V6
2.8 L LL2V6
3.2 L 6VD1SOHCV6
3.2 L 6VD1DOHC V6
3.5 L 6VE1 DOHC V6
3.0 L 4JX1TDI4
3.1 L 4JG2 TD I4
and many transmission, the body is a shell, the drive line is all optional.
Sounds like the engine is unwell.
Black smoke suggests that engine oil is getting into the combustion chambers.
This could be the head gasket has blown a hole, or that the piston (liners) are worn which would probably mean a new engine (rather than a rebore, which I doubt people do much these days).
Isuzu Troopers were underpowered, I read on the wikipedia page, so I guess that the engines may tend to wear out.
If it is the head gasket, then it could be repaired fairly cheaply. A mechanic would be able to tell the difference from the noise that the engine makes. I can't say I have ever heard an engine with worn pistols but someone told me one can hear them "slap"

If you are really lucky then it might be a hole in the exhaust before the silencer, which could also affect the power but I am not sure why there'd be black smoke. If it were an exhaust problem then there would be a loud noise from the exhaust too.
the maker? of it, (kind?)
id' say its made by a top transmission maker in japan.
and fully spec'd out by Isuzu.
why do you ask?
need parts.?
curious.?
what?
does it fit other cars?, why not ask a transmission exhange shop or rebuilder. that. they can answer, that.
most transmissions of this type use a standard box but with OEM
tail shaft houses, designed by Isuzu to fit transfer case .
see here for the kits and gives you and idea of what cars it fits
http://www.importdrivetrain.com/manualtransparts.htm#ISUZU%20TRUCKS
for a diesel I have no idea, google exchanges for that.
google tranny rebuild kits.
or google swaps. for same.
i do manuals. and best is to find a donor car.
then pull the tranny and have 2 tranny
then get the kit and make one good transmission.
you never stated the problem with it?
one bad syncho? or whines or pops out of gear. or ???????????????????????????????????????
dragging clutch>?
will not shift?
stuck in 1 gear.
stuck in neutral , ?
check the fuel pump wiring harness located behind the driver side taillight. sand and salt get through the rear driver side wheel well and destroy the connector to the fuel pump
Diesel oil in with the coolant, in the radiator? Very unlikely. Engine oil in radiator indicates a leakage like head gasket, cracked block or head. Transmission oil in radiator indicates a leaky radiator where the hydrolic fluid is cooled inside the radiator.
This is normally due to worn and leaking injector seals. The diesel bypasses the seal at the base of the injector due to the compression of the engine and blown it into the engine where it mixes with, contaminates and dilutes the oil.
You have not mentioned what vehicle it is so this is a general fault. Often if this is the case the seat where the injector is fitted needs to be cut to ensure that the new seal has a flat surface to seal against.
