The glow plugs are in the cylinder head. Remove the plastic cover which hides the camshaft cover, and find the black wire that connects to the common bus which connects all four glow plugs. They should be easy to see once you have the cover off.

what is year of the vehicle ? if post 1996 have the OBD2 codes read to give you an indication of what the problem could be , Without seeing the vehicle i'd consider getting the diesel pump timing checked , also cylinder compressions, hope this gives you a starting point

Most likely the connector, but could be the harness. Sensitivity to temp indicates a connector pin that is slipping back in the connector. Check the connector at the injector and also at the computer. Check to see if the wire is pushed fully into the back of the connector.

I don't think auto locking hubs were available in 1992. I think they are direct drive planetary gears. Front drive is controlled by transfer case only. When gear selector is in 4WD or 2WD, the hubs are active either way. Contact Warn for your application. I had Warn on my 1986 Toyota SR5 and they worked good.

No reverse is the most classic sign of a failed transmission.

hello Dana no engine size stated, no year, so is IMPOSSIBLE to say. same on all cars (generic answer) 1: remove all parts connected, like 02 sensors) 2: drop the flange, (cat end.) bolts snap you cry,. if v6 do both sides if doing both sides. 3: unbolt it from the head.

Ok I'm no expert but here's my take on this. I think you solid a whole lot in this car, i had a car that had an issue with the revs going up and down she idling and would be ok when driving, that I believe is a MAF sensor symptom... I believe it should throw a code for that.

Another thing you can do is clean air intake, clean/replace idle control valve and clean throttle body, if your tb is electronic (not sure on your make and model) make sure you do the idle re-learning. That can help with the mpg a little. Recommended tire pressure also can help with mpg.

Last thing I can think of, check well the smoke that comes out, when smoke is black is burning oil (seals get worn out and overnight oil might leak in places that later will get hot), if smoke is white it's burning water (blown head gasket) and if it's blue, then it's burning gas, if that's the case, that's where your gas is going and it could relate to a failing MAF.
