Engine system service required. Code P2584, P242F

My car is displaying Engine system service required on the display screen and when I plugged it into a diagnostic machine it has 2 codes. P2584 and P242F. When I rev the car through the gears it occasionally goes into limp mode. Can you tell me what the codes are for?

How do you reset the check engine light on a volvo

How do you reset the check engine light on a volvo S40? I did my own oil change and it pops up every time I start my car.

The Check Engine light has nothing to do with changing the oil. The light is on because there is a problem with the emissions system. Even if you reset the light it will just come back on unless the problem causing it to come on is repaired. You will need to have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool. That tool will retrieve the code that has been set by the ECU. The code will tell you what part is being effected, but not necessarily what part or parts are defective. To determine that takes training, experience, and diagnostic skills. I suggest you seek professional help. If the engine is running fine there is no hurry but if it is not running as it should, then do not put this off.

Where is the fuel filter on a 2005 volvo s40

Where is the fuel filter on a 2005 volvo s40

There is no external fuel filter for this car. It is actually a fuel pump and filter assembly located in the top of the fuel tank. The genuine part number for the complete assembly is 30792725. It will also need the O'ring that sits below the assembly part number 8638939. This is straight from the Volvo Vida information... Hope This Helps.

My daughter has a Volvo

My daughter has a Volvo S40 (2006). The Power System Service Urgent light with a red triangle with an exclamation mark and the Battery sign with plus and minus signs came on. She kept driving and then the other service lights (such as anti-lock brakes, anti-skid and the air bags lights came on. Should she get immediate service or can this wait? Thanks.

My son has a 2005

My son has a 2005 S40 Volvo. About two weeks ago, his wipers stopped working as well as the windshield cleaner! I told him to check the fuses first, however, that model has a "relay fuse" and I don't know how to check that without just replacing it! My next thought is a defective motor and pump to the wipers! It sounds more likely to me to be a fuse problem since the auto sensor does not work as well! I would have to purchase a repair manual for that car since I am not familiar with where things are located in the engine compartment! I would appreciate any assistance you might be able to give me. Thanks, Ed Harris

Thank you for writing all the info needed and the problem to make it easy for me to help you, this problem may be a motor but as like you i dont think the washer and sensor and motor would go out, i have enclosed pictures of the fuse boxes you will need to check, this car has four of them, you will first check the fuse, theres a 30amp fuse located in the engine compartment, you will locate the fuse which controls the wiper module, if theres no power to this module nothing will work, check fuse at location F-17 this will be a 30amp fuse for the wiper module. the diagram will show you the fusebox location and the fuse location, the next place is behind glovebox theres another fuse/relay box, theres a picture of that box also, you will be looking for postion F-48this is the relay for the wipermotor, you will need to swap another relay with the wiper relay to test it.good day and hope this is helpful.johnjohn2_9.pngjohnjohn2_10.png

My car thinks the key is still in the ignition when I take it out. I can't lock my car.

I stopped at a store recently and noticed that my radio didn't turn off when I took my key out of the ignition. Then when I opened the door it started beeping like my key was still in there. I also cannot lock my car as though the key is still in the ignition when it is not. What could be the problem?

There is a sensor in the lock cylinder that is probably faulty. The cylinder may have to be replaced and rekeyed to fit the car.

Steering wheel locked up and car died.

While I was driving my steering wheel locked up. I barely was able to get it parked and it finally died. Hooked jumper cables to it and it started but when we removed the jumper cables the engine wouldn't rev up. It stayed idle.
