2003 subaru forester xs won't move. all gears engage but just won't move what could the problem be? Changed all the brakes and calipers it seems it wants to move but won't

Assuming the new calipers are not dragging/jammed, look at * the handbrake system. Is this locking the back wheels? * the hill-start assist, if fitted (on manual transmission cars). This can also jam the brakes.

Dash lights stopped working

I think it's a ground problem or a fuse problem. The simplest way to fix a ground problem is to add another ground wire from the negitive on battery to the engine block. (assuming it's a negitive ground vehicle. 99% of cars are) You may have to look at your wire bundle that runs to the lights that are out and check the connection on the wire that runs to the frame. That's your ground wire. To check your fuses, see your operating manual. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Shaking when accelerating

Hello, Find a large open parking lot and then do tight figure "8's" with the steering wheel all the way over locked and then listen for noises from the front wheel area with your windows down and the RADIO OFF! When doing figure 8's with the steering wheel hard over each way when your doing the figure 8 pattern will bring out the bad CV joints and they will make lots of noise. Best to get a second quote from a front end shop and compare prices. You could call a local auto parts store and ask what the CV joint and shafts cost to get an idea on the parts prices. Good luck and road test that car in a large parking lot with room to do the figure 8 pattern. Dennis

Can I retorque the head bolts on my subaru forester 2003, I've just recently replaced the head gaskets?

Gaylene Green, If you already had a heating issue... just skip over all this meaningless RE-Torque "STUFF" If there was no overheating before this procedure... I would suggest either the WRONG GASKETS were used... or they were somehow reversed blocking a water passage). TORQUE has two ways to go... Too loose = leaks (water and/or combustion) Too TIGHT = Broken bolt/stripped threads If it will make you happy Sure... TIGHTEN... and then RE-TIGHTEN... after running. That USED to be the way it was done... until they came out with WONDERFUL "Modern" head gaskets... (tighter... never looser... and NEVER (MORE) too tight. If you think your torque is too much... you MUST also follow the REVERSE torque pattern when loosening (else risk a fractured casting (FOR REALS)). Although I seriously doubt the desired effect... The answer is SURE...!! Go for it... Re-Torque... (Could not possibly hurt... unless you do it wrong!) Just not sure of the "OVERHEAT" diagnosis... sounds more than a bit odd. *** If there is any previous history of overheating... I would pursue that as an INDEPENDANT issue. Thermostat, defective water pump... radiator cap... or crusted up radiator (any or all of the above + rotten casting plugs in the engine). Head torque... Naaah.

What causes slow acceleration wit very loud exhaust noise

I would check for a large exhaust leak, somewhere between where the exhaust manifolds attach to the engine heads to the muffler. Since you had the heads done, I would inspect the connections between the exhaust manifold & heads, the manifolds and the down/flex pipe, and the oxygen sensor housings.

After replacing the battery and the alternator, the radio, clock and CD player no longer work. Also, the trip restarts each time the car is turned off...Is there a code or reset that needs to be done?

Check your fuses. Your 3 problems all need a constant, when the switch is off, 12 volts. They are all probably on the same fuse.

My front power windows are very slow, going up and down, but my rear ones are going at a normal speed

Here is an answer from your self. Self. " Yes, likely you will be needing new front window motors." Unfortunately, with all things being made by computer today, the extra measure of quality has been removed to accommodate cost. When you take apart the doors to install the motors, be sure the regulators are in good shape for the next 10 year expected life. God bless your efforts.

Engine runs weird when decelerating from a high speed (100mph-160kmh) highway run.

I would expect a "check engine" light and a code if your O2 sensor was bad. You checked codes, right?

2003 forester can not get alternator to charge ..alternator is new , have check all connetions battery is good

Measure the voltage on the alternator. Should be about 14v. Then measure on the battery. If its not the same, then the wire from the alternator to the battery is open. Look for a 60 or 80A fuse in the fuse box. Run a heavy gauge wire from the alternator to the battery and see if the charging works.
