What is the spark plug gap for 2000 lexus Es 300
if im not mistaken it should be 35 thousants to be sure you can check the little white tab under the hood it should be on the shroud on top of the radiator or directly under the hood on the trim. it will tell you the gap as well as the engine size and timing.
I got an P0171 code on my 2000 Lexus which I'm
P0171 sets when air/fuel ratio feedback is stable after engine warm up, & fuel trim is considerably in error on the lean side.
The signal from a/f ratio sensor is approximately proportional to existing air-fuel ratio.
CHECK: system for intake leaks, incorrect fuel pressure, plugged fuel injectors, 02 sensors or coolant sensor operation.
check air fuel ratio sensors. to test main AFR sensors directly you will need a good scan-tool to test parameters.
A thorough preliminary check is important. If you take your time you may find the answer before you start playing the "process of elimination " game.
Good luck, let me know how it is going.
Bad sensors on 2000 Lexus ES 300
It is not likely an electrical issue, just age and low mileage. A Toyota dealer can work on the car but the parts will cost the same. Ask if there is a rebuilt AC compressor to fit. Toyota labor will be less but not much. The under hood sensors do age and foul.Yours may be from to little driving at high speed I would try some really good injection cleaner, fuel system flush and a run with premium gas fro a few weeks. It may help. You may also have a dirty throttle valve in the intake area accessible by removing the snorkle beyond the air cleaner.
If the dealer has scoped this car with his equipment the diagnoses is likely accurate. Ask him to point out the defective sensor under the hood. Several area s easy to do as spark plugs. VERY visible.but when the delaer finsihes he will agin scope the car to check computer readouts.
The fluid sensor may be visible too. Ask at the parts desk to show you on a screen where this item is and if it can be a DIY fix....
Trackoff and engine check light
The air intake sensor is responsible for telling the engine how much air is going it to make the combustion. You can live your life with that problem, but you will see the rough idle and a little bit more on fuel consumption. Hope I helped. Good luck
