Front wheel is bumpy at low speed. 4x4 stuck?
If the 4wd was engaged on dry pavement you would have a difficult time making a turn because the front tires would be turning at the same time.If the bump or vibration is felt when you are driving down a straight road I would agree with the ball joint or other suspension theory.I will note here that Jeep Cherokee came with two different kinds of 4wd, one version can be driven on dry roads when engaged.

My jeep surges on idel
Do this service.
This problem
is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and
throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use
carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC
chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is
running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the
speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and
blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the
negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

Loud banging noise
If the noise sounds like a diesel engine, knocking until the engine warms up, more than likely it's one of the rods/rod bearing. Unfortunately, if that is the case the engine is running on borrowed time. You'll be lucky if you get 2000 miles before total engine failure; I wouldn't recommend taking it on any long trips.
It would need to be serviced by a professional, they need to check the rods, rocker arms, lifters, and the timing chain for the cause.

Axle seal,front
Good question. Only you forgot to mention if it is a 4X4 or 2-Wheel Drive. Engine size would make things easier to look up as well.

What kind of transmission fluid do I have to use
If this jeep is listed correctly, as a 1996 jeep Cherokee country then the correct transmission fluid would be Mercon or Dexron III . this is the correct fluid, Also if you remove the transmission dip stick and wipe it and look at the stick it will say dexron III. good day

1996 jeep Cherokee SE 2.5 lt error codes 300 and
Hi there:DTC P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire DetectedBasically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly.A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why.DTC P0302 - Cylinder #2 Misfire DetectedA P0302 code means that the the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #2.Symptoms may include:the engine may be harder to startthe engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitateother symptoms may also be presentA code P0302 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:Faulty spark plug or wireFaulty coil (pack)Faulty oxygen sensor(s)Faulty fuel injectorBurned exhaust valveFaulty catalytic converter(s)Running out of fuelPoor compressionDefective computerPossible Solutions:If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

My 96guy cheroker has no reverse
When reverse fails this indicates the transmission has a internal mechanical failure, this repair requires the transmission be removed form the truck and rebuilt or exchanged.
