Need to check atomatic transmission

Automatic transmissions all use ATF fluid. Select a known brand, preferably one that is manufactured and marketed by one of the big name petroleum companies.

There is no adjustment on or in the transmission. If the bands aren't holding it is because they are excessively worn. However the problem could also be low transmission fluid, a weak transmission pump, a blockage in the fluid passeges or even a clogged transmission filter.

O2 sensor(s) need replacing. Does anyone know

You do not change any O2 Sensors based on an OBD2 Code

You change sensors, front 2 only at 80,000 to 100,000 miles

You use a 22 mm wrench or special O2 socket.
Some veh use a diffent size

Easy job, they are in the front of the converter
or pipe before it

The number of wires with be year and application
specific

You get an OEM Type, NOT a universal cut and splice

5 minute job per side

I get an engine knock when I first start it in the

Check if there is still one more prominent noise above the others even after you think it is gone by taking a long screwdriver, rest it on the valve cover and put the other end (handle) on your ear or the bone close to it. Of course, stay clear of rotating parts.
If you still hear something louder during the idle, characterize it as a 'click' or a knock. If the first, it is probably time to check valve clearances, if it is a knock, it could the early warning of a rod bearing failure.
An engine analyzer could make short work of determining the nature of the noise so if you value your truck, have a pro go over it.

What type of oil do

If you're talking about engine oil, most cars/trucks use 5w30 or 10w30. Make sure to use a decent quality oil, check the codes on the container. Some vehicles with turbos require a specific grade.

Excessive play in the steering

The steering gear box is worn out. And, there's probably worn front suspension components adding to the problem. You will need to check the following parts for looseness or movement: Idler Arm, Upper and Lower Ball Joints, Control Arm Bushings, Pitman Arm, Inner and Outer Tie Rod Ends, Front Hub Bearings. All of these can be replaced in your driveway with the exception of the Control Arm Bushings which are pressed in and require special tools to remove and install the bushings. If you can't replace all of them, concentrate your efforts on the following: Steering Box, Idler arm, and Control Arm Bushings. If you can afford to have all of them done, the front suspension would be factory fresh and should, with proper wheel alignment, drive like a new car.
