PT cruiser 1.6L, 70000km. Fuel consumption
As an L1 ASE Master technician, this sort of fuel consumption should be setting an engine code or codes. What I believe to be happening is that the fuel trims are being falsely skewed down to which the vehicles response would be increase duty cycle of fuel injectors to attempt to maintain a perfect stochiometric (14.7/1 air fuel) ratio. I need to know if the vehicle has any check engine codes. Have them check even if the malfunction indicator lamp is NOT on. They can be burnt out..
Go to an Autozone or O'rilies and have the codes pulled. Their scanners are archaic and their "counter" people were just working at Mc'Donalds last week, and most of them have no idea about a car and would already be lost at what I have told you, but they CAN plug their handheld scanner into the car and push a button. Let me know what you find.
Cheers!
Compressor seems to be cycling on and off
Check the pressure on the low side. You may need to charge the system, as the low pressure switch may be cycling. You can also try bypassing the switch by removing the connector and jumping the terminals with a paperclip.

hi,
this normally happens when you have a bad crankshaft sensor or a bad harness, will recommend you to inspect your harness first if this looks ok, then have your crankshaft sensor replaced, this is located on the rear of the engine so have to raise the car and from the bottom you will see a 3 wire connector.

If the key will not turn it is possibly associated with the steering lock. Try turning the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key. If that does not work, it sounds like you may need a new ignition tumbler.
