In my opinion I have to regretfully agree it would be in your best interest to go to your nearest dealer for that issue for one reason your dealer can offer you a warranty on the repairs if it isn't already covered under the factory warranty! However if you pay attention to what the mechanic says he repaired you can learn more about your vehicle and repair it yourself in the future, I preach this to everyone who attempts to repair their vehicle them self! Get a repair manual covering the model and make of your vehicle and read it over at least three times so you have a better understanding of the steps that are going to transpire! Then it will also show you the correct name and spelling of the part! Allow me again to apologise for the ignorance of someone who obviously doesn't deal with the public or he would know that there are people who have problems with spelling due to a disorder called dyslexia which I do only my problem is with math not grammar! You need a GM OEM scan tool to do this, so your best bet is to take it to a dealer.

It should be stated in the owner's manual in the glove box if there is one. :-)
