Security system not working as it used to

i read this on the subaru tech bulletin page
i had the same problem - apparently i had inadvertently put the system into "valet" mode
to get back to normal, unlock with remote - open drivers door - hold down the unlock button on your remote for 2-3 sec - the flashing light will go out and your system should be back to normal
it's too bad the manual doesn't supply information about activating and deactivating "valet" mode
good luck

Replace rear wheel bearing

hi these are pressed into place inside the hub so the actual bearing needs a press to install it, but you can remove the hub etc yourself to make job a bit cheaper, just unbolt wheel, remove brake disk via the 2xbolts and possibly the abs sensor and anything else in the way (certain models have diff setups) and drop into a garage, then repeat to install. If you have hub removed and ready to go yourself you will usually save around $250 hope this helps

Yes, they are available for the 2001 Forester. Dealerships and local auto stores should stock them. Please let me know if I may further assist you.

2001 Subaru Forester hesitates on

Might be a spark plug wire, or spark plug. Fuel filter may cause this too. May want to change that if it has not been done in a while and your air filter. To check the wires, try to look under the hood in a really dark spot to see if any sparks are grounding out anywhere. Have someone put the car in gear while you look under the hood and keep their foot on the brake, that way you can simulate a load on the engine. The fuel filter may work ok until you go up a hill or equivalent. I assume you mean hesitation and not some kind of slippage of the transmission if it is an automatic. take care, good luck

Hi,

Start with the floor carpet.

Easiest way to start is drive into a carwash and just see where the water ends up. Then you can go from there.

Code po442 Evaporative emission control system

You can inspect the hoses on the EVAP system for cracks or broken connections, but a smoke test that fills the system with actual smoke is the correct way to check for a leak. The leak can be as small as .040 inches.

Hey guys looking at buying an suburu forester

This is a guess............. A nonfunctioning cruise control probably would not cause the check engine light to come on , however what ever is causing the check engine light to come on could be stoping the cruise control from working. Is the car a good deal ? Check engine light could be just about anything , even a loose gas cap. What you need to do is use the known problems to get the price down a bit , and then take the vehicle to a mechanic to scan for error codes. The codes tell him which part to replace. More often then not , the repairs are not too expensive.

Hello, I have a 2001 Subaru

The bad thing about Subarus is the close tolerance used in the engines. If the timing belt goes while your driving, it almost will certainly bend every push rod in the head, or worse, costing you 10 times more for repairs. So your taking a gamble whether or not to follow the specs. If you drive it hard, I would take that advice, if not, you should be ok. But still, its a gamble.
