Codes for 2001 subaru

P0130----- 02 sensor circuit on bank #1 sensor #1
P0171------System too lean bank#1
The oxygen sensor on bank #1 needs a new one. If you have a V6 engine, the 02 sensor is screwed into the exhaust pipe up near the exhaust manifold on the same side #1 spark plug is, that's bank #1
I don't have my manual at the moment, so I can't tell you exactly where it is.
The sensor down by the catalytic converter is sensor #2 you don't want that one.

Subaru intermittent Headlight socket

Had same problem with my 1999 Forester. Jiggled socked for months until I separated it from the lamp and noticed part of the socket had melted and cracked. Checked internet for socket and hoping I wouldn't have to spend big bucks for whole light assembly just to get the socket part. No luck. So called Subaru dealer in Richmond and was told that Subaru doesnt make socket anymore. The good news is they puchase universal standard socket in piggytail form. So for 8 bucks, I got the univeral socket and spliced into existing three wires and works perfectly. The guy at the dealership parts department, which is different from service department, said that they routinely sell the sockets since it is a know problem, of which models not sure. Didnt purchase one for other headlight, if it goes, since guy says they stock the part all of the time. Sounds like something you could get from electical stores, etc. besides Dealership. Hope this helps.
BTW, got screwed on the bad headgaske problems...wasnt under warranty and total near 2500 bucks. Their solution of adding coolant conditioner is a con job.

2001 subaru forester. overheat problems. changed head gaskets, water pump kit (comes with all pulleys and new belt.

make sure the pump it turning. Also be sure your thermostat is not isntalled upside down. That happens you know. Check the waterlevel on your car. be sure your fan is kicking on as the engine heats up. There should be a temp sensor to make it turn on. I think this model has a heaater bypass too to check on which runs the heater around the engine to let it heat up faster.. might check that too. I would check on the backward thermostat forst though.
