Torque for main bearings on a 2002 3.7 ltr. liberty?

the book is free to read? KJ chapter 9s (7) Before installing bolts, lubricate the threads with clean engine oil, wipe off any excess oil. (8) Install main bearing bedplate to engine block bolts 11, 17 and 20 finger tight. Tighten these bolts down together until the bedplate contacts the cylinder block. (9) To ensure correct thrust bearing alignment, perform the following steps: ² Step 1: Rotate crankshaft until number 4 piston is at TDC. ² Step 2: Move crankshaft rearward to limits of travel. ² Step 3: Then, move crankshaft forward to limits of travel. ² Step 4: Wedge an appropriate tool between the rear of the cylinder block (NOT BED PLATE) and the rear crankshaft counterweight. This will hold the crankshaft in it's furthest forward position. ² Step 5: Install and tighten bolts (1-10) in sequence shown in (Fig. 49) to 41 N·m (30 ft. lbs.). ² Step 6: Remove wedge tool used to hold crankshaft. (10) Tighten bolts (1-10) again to 41 N·m (30 ft. lbs.) PLUS 1/4 turn in sequence shown in (Fig. 49). (11) Install main bearing bedplate to engine block bolts (11-20), and torque each bolt to 28 N·m (20 ft. lbs.) in sequence shown in (Fig. 49). (12) After the main bearing bedplate is installed, check the crankshaft turning torque. The turning torque should not exceed 5.6 N·m (50 in. lbs.). why not just read the chapter, here. http://colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/

Jeep liberty 2002 erro code p1388

USA liberty.? which engine which fuel.? first year, KJ Liberty on the gas engine, PETROL (gasoline USA name) that means the ASD relay dropped out. there are 8 reasons for the ASD to drop . since you did no post other DTCs (if present) then this error means, the ASD relay is bad. one of the 8 reasons is , the the PCM closed the relay but the ASD output pin failed to go to 12vdc. (a self test this is) this is a bad RELAY, if lucky. (in electronic, its bad relay or overloaded !) if not lucky, far worse (shorts there) new relay time. and pray. if not relay i can find it but will be lots of tests. i can detail them. but see this page yours fails way 5 listed here of the 8 http://jeepdied.com/ASD.html

2002 jeep liberty speed sensor

Jeep Liberty 2002 woahs !
by porth21 - 2/1/09 7:35 AM In reply to: Jeep Liberty 2002 speedometer not working by Dannywon
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited with the same problem. The main problem I have found to be the routing of the speed sensor wires located on the rear difrential. They are 2 blue wires on my jeep and probably the same on yours. The problem is that they rub on the E-brake cable and once the wire is exposed they short and the speedometer and any other options running off they speed sensor quit working and that includes the tranny shift points and can cause the torque converter to not unlock and cause stalls. I am having the same problem for the third time and chrysler and jeep are both aware of the problem and unwilling to repair the problem or post a recall.

2002 jeep liberty sport will not start. It won,t even turn over. drove it yesterday no problems. after 1 hour tried to start didn,t work Can you help?

Have you tried to jump started ? If your jeep starts when giving it a jump, you may have a bad battery. Check fuses for fuel and ignition systems. If your battery is bad, could be because the alternator is not charging it. Might want to have this component tested.

2002 Jeep Liberty had a alarm system now won't start say the alarm is active when it was not stopped for gas and now won't start because of the alarm how can I get it started again

it will need service you only have one key? this is called, and immobilizer. if the key and antitheft system are not happy , they tall the engine brain (PCM) to be DISABLE, called immobilized. it needs service. the first step is check fuses. then scan it, the scan tool will tell you why. for example it might say , wrong key code. (a bad key)

2002 jeep liberty motor-2.4 chain driven component below crankshaft need to find if position matters and how to time

no photos. so help will limited . all cam timing matters. "not sure what does", the cam, crank, sprocket or pin? The 2.4L inline 4 engine, is a throw back old Dodge Neons DOHC engine ,a twin cam head. 2002 is first year, Liberty in USA> is this the 2.4L turbo engine, EDZ engine.?? KJ jeep it is. be nice to say what job your working? HOw'd you get here? if you buy the service manual from jeep chapter 9s, covers this 2.4 total engine, in one chapter. but this engine cams are Belt drive. NOT CHAIN. first post that it really is, this engine? or the VIN, or photos. so you must be confused on that is there. the other engine, the 3.7L is a V6 engine vastly different than the 4 banger. it has chains. covered in chapter 9- page 71 + this v6 has a counterbalancer too. i recommend reading the FSM book on this engine , after counting cylinder, 4 or 6? and reading chapters 9 or 9s. see KJ 2002 here RTM read the manual seen here http://colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/

Bought a 2002 Jeep liberty limited had small hole in transmission pan shifted fine changed pan and ten quarts of fluid now shifts 1-2 fine 3and over like neutral

Trans fluid is measured by pints ! So if 2 pints are equal to quart , you only need 5 quarts if it has 3.7 6 cylinder . And 3 quarts for the 2.4 4cylinder ! You may have added 5 quarts too many .

02 jeep liberty backup !ights wont work bulbs are good

02 jeep. lib. so fuse are first. anytime elect fail check fuses;. stated over 1million time here, and is true. then what is second, scan it, to see if PCM/TCM knows why. The TCM (tranny brain will tell you if the TRS is bad, a fact) all scan tool here in usa scan this car, and tells you why. the car with a autotmatic trans (is it) has TRS switch trans range switch. this switch sends 12vdc to the rear when in REVERSE. many of these cars have many engine choices, not stated here. nor what trans is there, the trans matches engines. so.... each trans uses a different TRS, to diagnose this we use a volt meter, if the TRS has 12v in and no 12vdc out on the R pin , its bad. easy no? why not log into mitchell;s DIY and see the schematic there. 2002 KJ Jeep it is. i have the book. ill now guess, that its an usa car, and is automatic. ok? 3.7liter engine this trans the TRS is deep in side the trans, must drop trans pan to reach it, so we do all the above first, to avoid guessing and to do that we use a voltmeter to PROVE the TRS is bad see? if car is stick shift, is it? the switch is easy, on left side of box. this is how all cars work , its called drive train if you post not telling that all you get is no anwser or wrong answers is that good?, I think not. this is the automatic, see part 5, and now deep that is? this is pan off, valve body off view.... 26309010-c5eqxh1jp52x53cr354rayll-2-0.jpg here is the schematic for 2002 that TRS is burried deep see? if pin 1 is 12vdc in REVerse and pin 6 is not, the TRS is TOASTED ! (BAD) 26309010-c5eqxh1jp52x53cr354rayll-2-1.jpg

Where is the inline fuse located for the headlights, wipers, and door locks on 2002 Jeep Liberty?

why not do 2 things, (or read the FSM book and see all that) 1: check all fuses. we test them. if they look ok. good looking fuses can in fact be BAD, (called hair line cracks) 2: then SCAN the PCM , behold it knows and tells you why. 02 liberty in USA? I have a real shop manual and can answer accurately. (most here dont do that ,they guess. this is a guessingforum) btw jump cable jumps can scramble computers,. so.... now you know. if not in usa, and are in say canada, now be the time to say. Ill not hold my breath, as NOBODY ever tells the freaking country here. (3 of 10,000 did) lets to head lights 101, as they work KEY OFF, and makes this 10x more easy for troubleshooting easy stuff first. im on the usa page, not canada, not export pages. when you turn on the Head lamp switch this car has a digital switch that sends a logic level true to the BCM (body control modual, the body brain, this brain, my guess you scrambled it brains, then see this logic , level, driver demand. even key off by law, it then closes the head lamp relay if the HL fuses are good, the HL both glow I bet if you scan the PCM using any OBD2 scan tool made it barfs out tons of BCM errors. that is how this system works., and the BCM runs vast things. so. any thing it runs can fail once it gets scrambled.

Where is the fuse for the running lights on 2002 Jeep Liberty?

zero symptoms stated, just vague, running lamps.(with an 'S') running, are parks, old name , PARK. which lamps are dead, the PARK lamp fees are the largest feed on cars. , 2 in trail, 2 in front, and side markers and the cab is full of parking lamps, called illumination lamps with dim feature. so do all other things work on car, head lamps engine run, and HVAC and all that? Ill now answer ,and pretend you said, USA Liberty, on our USA forum. does your car have DRL feature, like in canada, mandate. daylight running lights> ill pretend , NO. Ill pretend you said all exterior park lamps are dead and the PARK relay is dead. the relay feeds fuse 9 and 23, so its not likely both those blew. the relay is controlled by the BCM brain, so if the brain fails to see the switch turned, there will be no parks, nor relay closure. if engine runs, ok and head lamps work ok and all else work then get the car scanned. to see if the BCM even sees the park commands are sent out. if engine dont start or stater sound weak , we'd fix that first. if only parks fail then the BCM is next. (fuses above ok) all fuses ok. (we check all fuses first. or read the book to see the complex nature of power and fuses on this car.) the scans must not show, for example MUX to BCM failures. the MUX is the combo switch outputs to the BCM. if no errors there, then we diagnose why the park relay is dead. its not wired like 1970 jeep. not at all its run by 2 + computers and a network,

2002 jeep liberty ac clutch not engaging

Could just be low on refrigerant, bad relay, or bad clutch. You can buy a can of r134a that comes with gauge to check refrigerant. You can swap the relay with the horn relay if refrigerant is good to test it.
