Do you need to remove the whole front end or just top of grill? I have removed the front plastic piece but cannot seem to find how remove the whole front assembly. Radiator is leaking from some where on the bottom but cannot remove it to find where exactly it is coming from.
There is a removable radiator support brace at the top. There are 4 nuts that hold it on. One of them also holds the battery retainer on so you need to remove that as well. You also need to remove the coolant recovery bottle transfer hose from the brace. It is sometimes a good idea to remove the fans too as they are close to the rad and they can damage the rad if you touch the fans.If I forgot something just post me back..

Everytime I drive my 01 jeep cherokee for mulitple stops, the check engine light flashes and my car shakes when I start driving. It doesn't do it when its stopped. Its hard for any mechanic to diagnose it because it doesn't happen for them. It only happens after you drive it for a while and the engine is plenty warm.
The only scenario I am familiar with that causes a blinking or flashing Check Engine Light is misfires. Your description of the car shaking is another sign of possible misfires as well. There could be other issues, it would be helpful to know what codes are getting set. However, with the flashing check engine light and the shaking of the car the first thing I would do, if it hasnt been done in a while, is a tune up. Replace the plugs to start. I believe you have a distributorless ignition meaning that you have coil packs instead of a distributor.
Your coil pack sits on top of the plugs. Look to the left side of the engine, just at the bottom of the valve cover and you will see (assuming you have the 4.0L 6-cylinder engine) a series of three humps. Those three humps is your coil packs and there should be four bolts that hold it in. Take out those four bolts, pry up the coil pack and then you will have access to replace the spark plugs.
While your at it, Id replace the fuel filter, air filter and other general maintenance/tune up items like that.

2001 jeep cherokee voltage gauge all of a sudden drops to zero but still runs. Died once but changed the serpentine belt and all was right with the world again but the gauge still drops to zero periodically. Is this the alternator? Have a new battery so that can't be the problem.
Charging system grounding out, poss inside alternator

P0202 AND P0302 ERROR CODES. CHANGED SPARK PLUGS ALREADY, BUT THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. JEEP FEELS LIKE IT'S PULSATING WHEN IT'S STOPPED BUT RUNNING. FEELS LIKE IT IS STRUGGLING FOR POWER WHEN ACCELERATING.
P0202 is cylinder 2 injector circuit malfunction. And P0302 is cylinder 2 misfire.
The # 2 fuel injector is the problem not the spark plug.
Check to make sure the electrical connector is still plugged in to the injector. The injector is right below the the #2 plug. If you have an electrical tester check the Ohms between the two contacts on the injector. It should be around 12.
Another way to check your injector before you spend the money is to switch two of them. Just make sure that you get yourself a manual. It will guide you through the injector removal better then Something like this.
If it's any consolation I have a similar problem P0202. Unfortunately I have no compression in # 2 cylinder which means a possible blow head gasket. I'll be happy to trade you.
Good luck

Please don't forget to rate....thanks:

During the final tightening sequence, bolt No.11 will be tightened to a lower torque than the rest of the bolts. DO NOT over tighten bolt No.11.

need torque specs for a 2001 jeep cherokee intake manifold
What does codes p1757 an p1762 on 2001 grand cherokee mean
P1757 - Governor Pressure Above 3 PSI When Request Is 0 PSI
P1762 - Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Improper Voltage
Both codes are refered at the governor pressure sensor; I am 99% certain that is bad. Just replace it. Check the voltage on the Light Green/White wire at pin 29 in the white
PCM connector with key ON, engine OFF (KOEO). It should be about 0.5-0.7
volts.
If higher than 0.8 volts, check the Transmission Temperature
sensor reading on a scan tool. If the Transmission Temperature sensor
reads normal, the sensor ground is OK. If the sensor ground is OK, then replace the Governor Pressure sensor.
Hope this helps.

What is error code p1686 on jeep Cherokee 2001
Hello lhernandez79,
The P-1686 is NO SKIM BUS MESSAGE RECEIVED.
SKIM stands for Smart Key Immobilizer Module.
One way I have solved this code is to disconnect the battery for about five minutes this resets the module.
I hope this helps.

netvan

I left my passenger window down in a bad rain storm and the next morning I tried to put the window back up and it would not go up. I could hear the motor running but the window won't go up. Does it just need a couple days to dry or do I need to have it fixed? Is it going to be expensive to fix?
It may have slid off the track from the water. If it doesn't start working once it dries out, a day or two depending on the weather, take the door panel off to make sure it is on the track properly and that the cables/wires have not corroded.
