My 1992 wrangler won't roll at all. It starts
This sounds bad, even in neutral it stalls, you cant even push it. i would start by putting the transfer case selector in neutral and see if it rolls, if this jeep is only two wheel drive then start by jack the front wheels up and do this for the four wheel drive also, this is to see if its in the trany or the wheel, check and see if you can spin the wheels in the front, if this is two wd then if the wheels dont spin then you have a problem with the brakes but what concerns me is that it stalls in neutral, i would have to say the problem is in the trany and if this is a stick shift trany i would say the clutch broke and will not release but when its in neutral it should roll. anyway do the same in the rear wheels, jack them up and see if the wheels move, if they dont then remove the driveshaft at the rearend and then see if the wheels move. if the wheels turn with shaft off then theres a problem with the trany oor transfer case if its 4wd, if its 2wheel drive then its something in the trany, if the wheels dont spin with shaft off then start truck and see if it still stalls but dont let it go into gear with driveshaft off you will not be able to stop driveshaft when disconnected, just see if it stalls in neutral. good luck.

JEEP WRANGLER 2.6 LITER HAS
In an engine of that age, likely you have some compression loss from wear. All other components also are likely a bit out of range and fuel quality today is really questionable (adding methanol definitely kills MPG as it burns cooler and requires 2x the amount to make the same power as does gasoline).
if it happened suddenly, I'd check the sensors and pay special attention to the O2 sensor(s) as they often go out of range and definitely will kill mpg when they do.

Engine miss firing
loss in power
May just be a spark plug wire, spark plug, coil, or distributor issue. Try to look under the hood when it is dark. Have someone put it in gear and put a load on it with their foot on the brake and emergency brake on, while you look and listen for a spark. Also, may be a fuel filter, if you do not find a spark jumping somewhere. Usually fuel filter problems will be present when you go up a hill or equivalent. Sounds like electrical though. If you want to check the plugs, just pull them out and look for signs of misfiring. They should be slightly grayish colored. If they are black or any other dark color, then there could be deeper issues inside the motor. take care and good luck

I have a '92 jeep wrangler with a 4-cylinder.
I dont think there are any injection parts in this 92 engine, just good old carburator. Which is most likely causing the surges. And you should definitely take it to the garage, it could eventuelly blow up and wreck the whole engine for good.

Try checking your cam sensor and crank sensor. You can test them with a voltage meter. Many times, the sensors will go before anything else. It may be your distributor itself. Test it as well. If you have a question, please let me know. I am here to help. Thanks for using FixYa. Have a good evening.

If you noticed this problem in the rain, then I would consider a complete Tune-up. When the ignition wires get full of moisture they do brake down resulting in poor performance. You can try to spray WD-40 over the entire wires, and distributor cap. If this helps. this would be a temporary fix, but you may have just solved the problem..

I have a 92 wrangler 4 cyl. it only after warming
Well if it does it after warm up then yes it is more than likely a coolant temp sensor gone whacko or its the thermostat that may be stuck when trying to expand. Other than that the stuff that you replaced should have fixed it. Have a good one!

Sounds like there could be
All the gears inside the transmission are driven off a main gear called a cluster gear. Though the gear ratio changes as you select different gears, each "gear" you select engages several gears inside the unit to achieve the one you selected. Actually if it was possible to have a straight through arrangement, that would happen in fourth gear. Fifth is overdrive... the input actually turns slower than the output so the engine turns slower and saves fuel.

On a 91 wrangler 231
the factory speed sensor has three wires i can tell you what these wires do and were they go but without knowing what after market gage you have i cant tell you what to hook up but there should be a wiring diagram with the gage you bought.
so here we go
wire #1 black/white 5volt supply comes from the ECM terminal #7
wire #2 brown/red sensor ground comes from ECM terminal #4
wire #3 blue speed singal output goes to the ECM terminal #47
as you can see all the wires go to or come from the ECM then the ECM sends a signal to the factory spedo. I am not sure you can use this sensor with an after market spedo. gingerly you have to install an aftermarket sensor with the spedo, you cant unhook the wires from the ECM or you will have problems with the cruse and with the transmission shifting.

I would have the exhaust manifold inspected, a lot of times it cracks where the pipes connect. I am assuming you have a 4.0L. Then you would just need to change the manifold to fix the problem.
Thank you,
