Isuzu trooper 2003, skyroof version, 4jx engine.

If you are sure that the engine oil is coming into the combustion chamber, then you have to overhaul the engine. After the overhaul is done, have it calibrated and and clean the exhaust pipe to get rid of the black smoke. And! remember, for diesel engines a big black smoke will always come out the exhaust if you suddenly step on the gas too deep and then over-revving it. (I mean always, that's why roadside emissions people are so stupid when stepping on the gas, they always step on it suddenly and over-rev it, it's a sure fail)

I replaced the battery in January for my Isuzu

In today vehicle there are many electronic device that still draw power from the battery.

Example:
Car radio memory on station pre-set
Car radio clock
Computer/ECU to save driving parameters
Car alarm + sensors
Power seat menory

To prevent problem,I will start the engine for 5 minutes once a week.

If are in an enclose area and has access to a power outlet then it's a good idea to connect a float battery charger to keep the battery is optimal condition.

Here is a sample of float charger / battery tender.

It's a good idea to check for worn belt and weak alternator.

A belt with 60,000 or 5 years should be replace.

Check the voltage at the battery terminal after the engine is warm up for 5 minutes. The voltage should be above 13.8V

Auto supply store may provide more in-depth battery and alternator testing for free.

Please email me if you have any question.

Have a break calliper with piston that wont push

Use a little wd40 or pbblaster penetrating oil and let it soak for an hour. I don't know what you are using to move the piston. What you need is a large C-clamp. Make sure it is an all metal clamp. None of that plastic junk. A few good turns of the handle should start moving the piston.

Replace the brake caliper if it won't push back. Probably rusted at the piston.

I have no start issue

Hello pratt..... These car antitheft devices are the curse of the car owner. I can not begin to tell you how often I get these problems. Unless you are really into car electrics, I recommend calling a local autoelectric repair shop. These shops have all of the diagnostic equipment and knowhow, plus the wiring diagrams for all of these devices and vehicles.

If you don't go to one of these shops you can literally spend hours and hours being frustrated. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

How do I replace the

This is usually a big job for DIYers. If you want to attempt it, you should get a repair manual from the parts store for around $20. Read through the entire operation before you start. It will save you a lot of time and money.

Fuel pump replaced and still

If you have yet to check the Fuel Pressure Regulator, generally located in the fuel line under the hood, I would take a look at that.

Fuel guage go down fast

Your problem is probably the guage float assembly in the tank, if you have someone do a diagnostic scan you'll probably have a trouble code like P0463. You'll will probably have to change the unit.

Fan selectsion is stuck on

I would check for a short in your system but also check the resistor that sits behind the glove compartment with the blower motor. If your fuses were blown that means there was obviously a voltage spike which needs to be dealt with okay? Have you had any other problems?

Hope helps. Keep us updated.

2001 Trooper 4x4 starter replacement. The starter

Unfortunately that is the only way(6cyl engine). You don't need to remove the whole system, just the downpipe between the system and the manifold. Use WD 40 on the bolts before loosening.
Upon reassembly don't forget the heatshields on the starter. If you are unable to find the correct gasket for the exhaust some Firegum will work instead.
Torque exhaust nuts to 43Nm(32lb/ft), starter bolts to 67Nm(49lb/ft)

My 2002 isuzu trooper, 4.3 liter engine, will not

Hi,all the alternators job is,is to charge the battery,so the alternator has nothing to do with it not starting.now if your battery keeps draining down and you have to recharge it every couple of days, then it would be the alternator that was bad.but if you have a fully charged battery and it still wont start, its another problem! does it turn over and try to start but not start?? or when you turn the key over does it just go click-click-click?? or does it just not make any noise at all when you turn the key over?? it makes a big diffrence which of the three its doing, let me know which one its doing, also you can take your battery to auto-zone and they will load test to see if its holding a charge ok.....just let me know.......yz-maniac.

Dealer wants $1000 to replace

well i just called auto-zone and they only want $105.00 for the fuel pump on that 2002 trooper Ls. So i would have to say that's way to much money!!!! that's $900.00 labor..( for a 3 hr job.) that job i would do for $450.00-$500.00 total. And a dealer has all those tools already, its not like there going to go out and buy the tool to do your SUV so that should have never even been brought up....and resetting the computer is nothing, i would run as far and as fast from that place as possible. find a local mechanic shop (not dealer) to do the work. and tell them you already priced the fuel pump from auto-zone $105.00 ( and you will get an honest quote for labor.)
