I am attempting to replace an oxygen sensor myself. However I have no idea where it is located. Bank 2 sensor 1?
which one? and why, why tells me , (front or rear)
well you did NOT say what engine, and we cant guess that or country.
and guess what calif is a country, it has its own exhaust system too.
in most cases , bank 2 means the V6 engine. (of the 4 sold)
so bank 2 is the bank that has #1 cylinder,
and where is is that, well that is the most forward cylinder.
#3 is front too but is set back (gander there at those too. see one set back, bingo, bank2 is there.
so where is sensor one, that is the front 02. aka. up stream.
not only that , they rust into the port, so needs special tool to get it out. cheap but need it you will.
why do you ask this, are you a handy DYI mechanic?
if not why not get car serviced.
you can watch youtubes all week and see them being changed out.
it not black art, like it was prior to the internet.
unplug it (it has locks)
put the new one in
put back plug.
but rust happens.
cars can have 2 to 4 oxygen sensors.
on 4cylinder has 2 in USA>
6cyl can have 3 or just 2. calif, or fed ,respective.
v6s have 4, 2 per cat, one front one rear.
USA laws. cant speak for non usa smog regulated cars. eva.
Sensor 1 is always the front sensor.
bank1 is always the most forward cylinder #1 side.
bank2 is other side. bank. V6 V8
back 2 can be on a split inline 6. rear. but in front of cat.
rear cats are sensor 2 .
why not say why needing to know.???
putting the helper on same page, will save you lots of wasted effort. (barking up wrong tree is common in this domain) ask why/?
smog man said its bad?
ECU DTC errors said its reading funny.
AFR fuel ratios wrong (front sensors!)
cat monitors fail, even with new cat? rear sensors.
