1998 honda civic. car wouldn't start. thinking need gas. get gas. prime throttle body (maybe a little too much accidently) however, waited a day.(battery was dying from all the attempted starting. put

The only matter there should be in the throttle body is air. The throttle body in no way has anything other than "nothing" in it. The liquid you see could be the gasoline you threw into the throttle body. Getting back to your problem. Do NOT have someone looking down the throttle body while you are trying to start the engine. That person may receive a haircut he will never forget! Get the battery charged. Try to start the engine because even though you think you put too much gas in the throttle body, it may start. The tricky part. If the engine starts and runs for a few seconds, then you are having a problem with fuel delivery and that is the fuel pump most of the time but not always.. If it does not start at all, try one more time to pour gasoline into the throttle body, hold your foot about 1/2 way down on the pedal and then try again to start it. If it still doesn't start, it's time to check for spark.

Do you remove belt when removing alternator

Hi: To remove the belt, you must loosen the belt tensioner pretty far. It is located up near the front of the engine, not far from the air conditioning compressor. It has a 10mm bolt that must be loosened, and that will allow the belt to be removed. After the Alternator is replaced, tighten the belt back up, and start the car , shut it back down and adjust the belt as needed.

I have a 98 honda civic with a 1.6 that won't start after I washed it any suggestions ?

You may still have water either inside the distributor cap, or down in the spark plug holes, causing the spark to short out. Also I have run into some that get water into the crankshaft position sensor connector at the back side of the crank pulley. Good luck.

1998 honda civic lx no spark in to the plug

did you check fuses first? there are 4 to 6 plugs all are dead? which 98 engine option you have? name it. or cyl count and displacement. so you checked at the coil. actual, if true, that is no spark. at all. USA answers ONLY ! 1: connnect scan tool to DLC 16pin connect, by knees. 2: i crank for 5 seconds, 1potatoe 2 potatoe . ....5 3: i release key,. not turn off. 4: the scan tools shows, DTCS for CMP or CKP bad. Yes, then BINGO. the car the PCM makes spark fully,. the PCM has cam and crank signals that the PCM uses to fire the IGNITOR. this is the first check. if no DTC errors, the Ignition or coil is bad. or just a fuse blown. using said $9 scan tool check Pending DTC errors too. for CMP or CKP, po340 or p0355, etc. this will get you on the right side of the PCM every time. the ecu/pcm first the COIL ! ask for help checking coil or ignitor. or read the FSM , it covers that 100% or at alldata.com

Door unlock then locks itself

try the other fob. the buttons on fobs can short.(its just a plastic membrane with carbon pad in the fob and can go bad.(cracks or crumbles inside...........) so put the suspected fob far away from car, and use the good new fob. work now, and a new FOB battery, too. if you only have one fob, now's the time to get the spare. no fob lasts forever. not not ever.

Where us fuel filter located

lots of Civic sub models the fsm covers this. "factory service manual" buy one, and read it. so does alldata.com ever use google here is 1st hit, your ,Q http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080106202852AAqXLnp where, we look in front of the gas tank see if it is there, first, always. not guess. some models or midyear changes, move it inside the tank but most cars 98 its right there near tank. on the main fuel line. on all cars, EFI you can follow the fuel line from the fuel rail (or reg) to the tank and the filter is then discovered, ever time. if not , its in the tank that is why we never look it up, we just look for it. this can also vary by engine, options (sized) so..... look first/ or alldata.com go there look up your, year, model, sub model and engine, type.

Carefully check the area near the alternator belt, in front of a plastic cover of timing belt. The Crankshaft Position Sensor wires are routed through this area. The wires may be damaged here. Repair and delete the codes.

My 98 civic ex overheated ,o pulled over and

well first off check the oil level that will let you no if their could be more to the overheating than just low coolant. But sounds like your starter may have went out...... or the starter is working and is unfortunately able to turn over in locked up motor. Another test for this is to take of the belts And see if you can turn the motor over by hand.
