How to remove an SIR coil on 97 Deville/Technical drawing of steering column?
The clock spring assembly was most likely damaged during removal/assembly of the repairs. This assembly controls the airbag/horn/steering wheel functions. It is not that hard to change if you have a steering wheel puller to get the steering wheel off. Here is an exploded diagram. Hope it helps. The very top of the diagram is the clock spring assembly and it will be the first thing you see when the steering wheel is removed
How do I check coolant level on an a 97 Cadillac Deville
You have a coolant recovery tank with a radiator cap that is located separate from the radiator itself, I think it is on the passenger side of the car under the hood.about halfway between the grille and the windshield.
Find the tank, and remove the cap very slowly while the engine is off and the motor is cold.
It may still have high pressure, so watch out. You should see the coolant within an inch of the radiator cap inside.
If you want to see a picture of what the recovery tank looks like, pull it up on e-bay and type in your year and model of car and search e-bay motors.
Be blessed.
How do I get out of park when my starter has failed?
The park lock solenoid and the starter are not really connected to each other. If you can not shift out of park by turning the key on and pressing on the brake, you should be able to shift out of park by turning the key to the unlock position but not to the on position.
How do I replace the radiator?
This is a very easy job if you are mechanically inclined. Remove rad cap, remove the lower rad hose to let coolant drain out. Catch in a clean container to dispose off properly - do not put into drain.
Disconnect transmission lines using line wrench to preventing rounding out of nuts. Remove top rad hose and any top plate holding the rad in position. gently wriggle and lift out of the car.
if you car have the electric fans mounted onto the rad = transfer over to new rad without breaking any mounting bolts.
You may as well put in new coolant at this time than re-using the old coolant.
Disconnect horn 1997 cadillac deville
The 'A' and 'F' note horns are located underhood at the front right corner of the vehicle. To "disconnect" the horns, pull off the electrical connectors or remove the horn relay in the underhood fuse block. If they are on continuously, consider replacing this horn relay, but the problem may be in the steering wheel assembly.

HOW DO i REPLACE THERMOSTAT 1997 CADILLAC DEVILLE?
The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line(small hose). The purge line is designed to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank (not the cap) ,this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating.
If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.Or trace the hose back until you find the blockage.
The hose goes in to the engine to a crossover and comes out the other side close to the thermostat housing, the blockage may be there.
If you still wish to replace the stat...
The thermostat in the northstar engine is located at the bottom radiator hose (unlike most conventional cooling systems), the hose connects into the housing where you will also find the water pump.
You will need to remove the air filter housing and air duct to gain easy access to the thermostat.
Remove the hose from the housing, then remove the two bolts on the flange, the thermostat can then be pulled out.
Take note of the orientation of the thermostat as you remove it.
The thermostat in the Northstar engine is a dual action device.
One end of the stem is the Thermostat(obviously) and at the other end is a spring loaded pressure valve(the thinner end).
Make sure the thermostat end is nearest the rubber hose and the pressure valve end is in towards the engine.
