The number one cause of this type of noise is low fluid in the power steering pump reservoir and or the PS pump is defective.

you have left a wiring loom connection off from the sound of it ,no idea where but have a good look tomorrow,best of british with it

check for indication of any errors on the instrument panel as if this is the case your system protect is ON

This may have been done already but your first step should be this. Disconnect the negative post of the battery and then connect a Amp meter so that you can see what the draw on the battery is when the engine is off. If there is draw then you know that you have some sort of parasitic drain happening. DO NOT attempt to start the car with the meter attached as most cannot handle the current draw required and will short out. You only want to test whether any power is consumed with the key off. Likely culprits: 3rd party radio or amplifier that is connected to constant live power not keyed power, in the case of an audio amp, the remote trigger is not connected so the amp is running even when engine is off. You do not say how long it takes to drain the battery out but even leaving a GSP connected will drain the battery over time.

Is there fuel in it? Is the battery low, do you need assistance from somebody with jumper leads? Have you dropped / damaged your keys whilst shopping? there is a chip in the key to disarm the immobilizer. Could be any of a number of things I am afraid. Get assistance form a competent mechanic to diagnose it

pfauto212 is correct on the suggested answer some models have the fill plug on the side of the pan, while others have the fill plug on the bottom & you need a special L-shaped adaptor to fill the fluid into the pan Audi ATF Audi Transmission Fluid use the specified synthetic fluid made for german vw cars only! you can skip the part where they are changing the filter and see how they add fluid from the fill plug area

They all have to line up with the TDC at zero

The brake work was not done properly & the pads have to be properly bedded or run in when first installed Possibly the wrong pads were used as well

What 'valves' did you change? Cylinder head? Then you have a bad head gasket. Any white smoke from exhaust?

under the hood somewhere there should be a decal that has the belt routing on it.
