Bezel around dash should pry off-very carefully-2screws hold cluster in dash ..lights r on back of cluster..little tiny twist on bulbs

Could be a bad transmission in the wiper housing...or it just came undone.

Was the code reader a basic one like used at Auto Zone or at a dealership. This sounds like your BCM (Brake Control Module) has gone bad. most of the more modern instrument clusters are solid state meaning theres pretty much nothing to fix on then when they break unless your good with electronics repair, its easyer to just replace the unit with one out of a salvage yard.

Check the seat rails...where the seat travels and make sure there isn't some type of obstruction...

Did you turn the switch on?

Sounds like the diverter door is not working properly. Not sure where it's located or if it's vacuum or electrically actuated. It should be in the plenum under the dash but may not be accessible w/o removing part of the dash.
