Chevy 2001 Cavalier won't start
Trace the power source from fuse to relay etc and make sure pump is working. if all checks out then check pump working and for preasue at engine. you may have a dammaged fuel line from the tank which would also cause the same problem
How often should you change coolant in 2001 Chevy
Sounds like air in system, repair any leaks flush and add universal antifreeze, and to get air out without special equipment, fill best as possible, start engine drive around block. Let vehicle set until cold. Then check coolant level again, repeat until guage stays normal
I have a 2001 cavalier, it runs good, no codes but is running rich
I would take it to someone who has a scanner. NOT a simple code reader.
The scanner will allow the user to see what the different sensors are inputting to the computer.
A defective coolant temperature SENSOR will cause the symptoms you described. I'm not advocating to simply "fire the parts cannon" at the car. Simply giving information I know is valid.
Another thing that wouldn't involve a scanner would be to check the air filter. If it's dirty it will cause the engine to run rich.
Hope this helps.
My 2001 chevy cavalier wont start in the cold, what can i do
This is a little confusing. Your title suggests that it's a cold weather problem, while your description suggests that it's year round. So, I'll try to help where I can on this.
If it's a cold weather issue, sorry, but can't do much about that. The only thing you can do is keep your battery charged. I recommend removing it on nights you know are going to be cold. Your best bet would be to replace the standard battery terminal clamps with what I like to call, quick release clamps. Then you can connect/disconnect quickly and easilly. All you have to do, is just lift the battery out, bring it inside, and place the battery on a block of wood.
If it's an issue that is occouring year round, including the summer months. Try to start the engine. Does it sound like it wants to crank? Do you get any sound at all? Depending on which it is, it could either be a dead/bad battery, or you need to replace the starter. Also, as in all my suggestions, check the wireing for frayed or damaged wires. Sometimes the most complex problems can be solved with the simplest sollutions.
2001 cavalier 2.2l automatic transmission,we
it would be on the backside of the engine - depending how the car was designed. The other thing is that chevy's are notorious for not having easy access to anything under the hood. keep looking you will find it - use a good wand type light so that you can see in there better.
Best regards

Where is the transmission dipstick for the 2001
There is no dipstick for the newer model Automatic transmission Cavaliers. There is only a red fill cap on the driver’s side on top of the transmission. The only way to check it is to jack up the car, making sure it level with a jackstand on each side of the car, and remove a small plug from the side of the transmission, underneath the car. It will be small and in an American size. It is either a 3/8" or a 7/16" size plug. Once it is removed, fluid will drain out if it is overfilled. Once there is no more fluid coming out, it is at it's proper level. If there is none coming out, then add more until it comes out and levels off. It has a capacity of about 11 quarts for the 4 speed models. The 3 speed models have about 7 quarts.
The dipstick for the 5 speed manual transmission is located on the back side of the engine. It will have either a white or yellow handle. It holds about 2 quarts of syncro-mesh transmission fluid. It is important that this fluid is used for the manual or problems will occur.
What is causing the engine on my 01 chevy cavalier to lope
Easiest possibility would be a clogged fuel filter. One time I had a car that was loping and it was just 2 broken engine mounts. But could be a sensor or a bad cylinder as well. Need someone to help you decide which one is the culprit.
No spark on cyl 3 and 4
What engine ? 2.2 l or 2.4 L. You don't say if any codes are set. no P0303 - P0304 cylinder's 3 & 4 misfire ? or any other ? No the cam sensor wouldn't cause just two cylinders to misfire. The PCM triggers the ICM to turn on an off coil's to build up an collapse the primary voltage inducing the secondary voltage . This engine is equipped with a non-distributor ignition system called the electronic ignition (EI) system. The primary circuit of the EI system consists of the following components:
?€¢
Two separate ignition coils
?€¢
An electronic ignition control module (ICM)
?€¢
A crankshaft position (CKP) sensor
?€¢
Related connecting wires
?€¢
The ignition control (IC) portion of the powertrain control module (PCM)
Important: The camshaft position (CMP) sensor is only used for a misfire detection. It is not part of the ignition system. !
