- For this fault it is common to unhook the battery cable for two minutes and then re-hook them up and see if the light disappears. Sometimes an alternate light shows up and goes away after a few days of driving depending on the miles you drive daily.
- If the light won't go away you can go to your nearest major parts store and have them read the codes free of charge. At that time you have the codes cleared. If you are not having any symptoms of hard driving this will be fine. Wait to see if they come back. It could just have been a glitch.
- The code will tell you for sure what the light means but this light usually means something is wrong with the EGR. Often times a good cleaning will remedy this but sometimes you have to replace it. The codes will have that answer for sure.

If your power steering is hard, its a sign that your steering pump could be going out. but there are other

On my 2011 Jetta TDI,
Its indicating to check the coolant level. The coolant level is below minimum.Get the coolant level checked and refill the coolant to exact level. If the coolant is again getting low quickly, then its coolant leak. The coolant is leaking from its reservoir. But if the coolant is full and still you are getting that thermometer symbol on dash then its problem with coolant temperature sensor.Either the sensor is dirty or its connections are loose or the sensor is faulty.---------If its dirty, then remove sensor connections, clean the connections and reconnect, if the connections are loose then remove and reconnect it tightly, but if that is not the case then replace the coolant temperature sensor. But moist probably this thermometer symbol on dash comes because the coolant level is low and needs to be refilled.-----------
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Im guessing it is a jetta? I never heard of a polo. BUT the guy at the garage obviously didnt help you out very much except scanned for codes. ANYWAY.... P0116 means Engine Coolant Circuit Range/Performance. I recommend checking engine coolant temp[ECT] sensor G62. It probably needs to be replaced. And a coolant flush would probably be good to
