1996 Nissan Maxima will not start?

I would check the mass air flow sensor. It could have a cobweb or spider web on it. It has to be real clean but when you clean it use carb and choke spray.

My 97 nissan 200sx 1.6

We have two Nissan 200sx's, a 1995 manual and a 1996 auto. Both had this problem and both turned out to be the same thing. The "idle air control valve." It was most noticeable if you ran the air conditioner and then came up to a red light. You would have to keep pushing on the brake and race the engine a little to keep it from shutting off. Replaced that part and both cars have never had the problem again.

You will have to see it. There are dentist type mirrors available in auto parts strore that will allow for you to see it, PLEASE do this when the engine is relatively cool. e.g. start-up. The coolant generally travels straight down, although this is not always the case it is a good indication as to the locatioon of the leak. It is impossible for the coolant to leak from between the block and pan. It appears so as the coolant travels along the rim of the oil pan on its way to the ground. If you can get a thin cardboard strips in there you can tell where the wet starts and stops

I replaced the water pump on a 96 nissan maxima

Yes, it will probably get messed up!! You might have already damaged the engine when you started it the first time. Re-check your cam and crank timing marks. Make sure they're EXACTLY lined up. If in doubt, pay a mechanic to fix it!

My Cd Player in my 1996 Nissan Maxima is a Bose

Sounds like the lens of the laser needs to be cleaned and easiest way is to buy a cd player cleaner but you can take the player apart and clean that lens with a Qtip and some rubbing alcohol.

Sounds like a fuel issue if you have run it dry, maybe a blocked fuel filter, or maybe it needs new spark plugs, check the air filter as well.

Did you change the fuel filter. The fuel additive you used will not get the water out of an old fuel filter. Excessive water in the fuel could cause the misfire. The Maxima is probably due for timing belt due to age. Missing teeth on the timing belt will result in timing walk. The knock sensor is probably getting pre ignition signals. Look at the belt and get the fuel clean and go from there. (Do an OBDII Scan)

How to take off the top ball joint nut with an open end wrench without stripping the nut?

Usual method,Pull the cotter pin and use 2 open end wrenches,on top of each other to increase the contact area and pull slowly. The nut should come off. 2nd method, use a sharp air chisel and split the nut apart. 3rd method, shield the CV boot and heat the nut or cut it off flush with a torch. 4th method, freeze the nut with 134a and then remove it with the 2 wrenches. 5th method,Cut across it at an angle with an air cut off tool down to the ball joint threads to release the nut pressure then remove it with one wrench. Do you need more methods?
