Speedometer doesnt work or bounces

On my 96 the PSOM module went bad. That is located on the back of the instrument cluster. Mine is analog not digital. What was happening was that the PSOM (Programable Speedometer Odometer Module) would mess up and the speedometer would jump all over the place. The tranmission is electronic and the computer would adjust and shift depending on the speed reported by the speedometer. The van would **** and shake. At slower speeds it was much better. I changed the speed sensor first without success. Changed the instument cluster and all was well.

Engine: 1994 ford aerostar,

Please see the diagram at http://6jonline.com/aerostar_oil.jpg. I have included a picture of the engine with the oil fill cap and dipstick labeled. To open the cap just turn it counter clockwise like your gas cap.

No power to all three (3) blower switches, rear defrost switch,

Check for a loose connection at that fuse panel you were playing with.
I'll check other ideas & get back to you, while you check that.

Front brackes dragging

Change the hoses from your calipers to the frame. It's a rubber looking line. Inside of those lines there is a valve and if that valve is not functioning properly, when you release the brake pedal it doesn't allow fluid to come back to the resevoir and therefore gives you the feeling you are driving with the brake on. Change them both sides and see if that helps

Having problems with getting to the spark plugs

I'm guessing you're talking about the rear spark plugs that are hard to get to. You can go at this a couple of ways. if you can lift the vehicle and support it on jack stands( the front only) you go from under the car. Or if you have a ratchet rope, you can disconnect the front left (driver side) motor mount, connect the rope to something very secure like a tree then ratchet the motor towards the radiator. This will give you more room to get those plugs. there is not easy way to get to those plugs(ya gotta love ford) but these would be the easiest.

Clock

If the radio and clock is the original equipment then here is how to set the clock.

1. Turn the radio on

2. Press and hold in the on/off-volume-clock control

3. While holding the on/off-volume-clock button in, press the left(-) side of the "TUNE" button to advance the hours and the right (+) side to advance the minutes.

Note: The clock displays 12-hour time with no A.M. /P.M. indications

These instructions come from the Electronic Sound Systems manual that I have with my van. Hope this helps.

Signal and emergency ligths stop working

I would check the bulbs, first with just parking lights on - making sure all light - then to see if brake lights work.

If brake lights work, check you parking/signal lights, as they may be of the "two filament" variety. If this is the case, and they are not burned out, check to make sure that the FLASHER module works and that the button for the EMER FLASHER works.

If either is not working, neither will your turn signals, as they depend on the flasher module.

Good luck !!

1994 ford aerostar fuse panel

The illustration for "which fuse is which" should be on the cover for your fuse block.

See photos at:

http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c1528006de4f

If you don't have the cover, try calling the local automotive recycling yard and see if they have one cheap.

Good luck !!

My car bogs down

Hi,
When you press on the gas, several things should happen all at the same time. -

More air should be admitted - by means of a butterfly valve or similar in the carb (if petrol).
Firing of the fuel should advance in line with the piston position being just before TDC.
More fuel obviously.

So, the question remains - which is it?
Check air feeds (fit clean new air filter), visually check operation of throttle controls and links. Check there isn't a vacuum line fault. This is most likely the cause, as it is the main method to control timing and air advance systems.

Check fuel delivery is not overfueling after making certain it is not an air issue. This is a progressive thing, wheras the vacuum line is more sudden.

Hope this solves it for you.

Water pump

No you must take the fan clutch and fan off, that's not easy sometimes, usually the fan and clutch are pulled off using a pulling tool before you remove the pump, take it to a machine shop or Auto zone may help pull it. good luck

Sounds like it has a diesel engine

Hi there!

Check the levels of coolant, oil, brake and steering fluids. This should be a weekly check but I don't know anyone who does anymore!

If you are low on radiator coolant, refill with the correct mix if there is some in there - otherwise just water. This is to find the leak if there is one. If there is no leak, add antifreeze mix (of the correct type as there are two) to the right strength (most garages will check this free for you)

Check for leaks - particularly from radiator, and drivebelt end for the next 2 weeks.

If this helps, please take a moment to rate as Fixya!

If you want to ask more, just carry on this question. Thanks.

Ford aerostar automatic transmission repair

Lay it down flat and fill it about half way about 3-4 quarts. then install it onto the input shaft. Since the torque converter is part of the fluid drive system it will regulate its on its own when the rest of the fluid is added after the install. Hope this helps ~ Zach
