Brakes seizing
Sounds like a sticking caliper. When brakes seize, you can jack up one wheel at a time to see which one is locked up. Then open bleeder to get going again. Replace that caliper. When you wait, it cools down so you can move again.
Major vacuum leak
A vacuum leak is unlikely to hold RPM that high. 1st inspect throttle plate not closed all the way, possibly hung up, or cable pulled too tight holding throttle open or accelerator pedal not releasing completely. If ok, next would be a computer controlled issue , Possibly idle speed control motor or throttle body assembly if not cable operated .
Low coolant
this may sound different, but your dodge dealer will answer that over the phone, but any name brand antifreeze will do,but get a tester for coolant strength costs very little but well worth it.
Dex cool antifreeze
Anykind will work as long as you use green with green, or pink with pink. (yes they come in different colors to fight off corrosion, and they do not mix)... make sure to dilute it as per the directions listed on the container.
I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid and recently replaced
Check to make sure that you put brake grease on the back of the pad where it meets the caliper. Also, for the brake petal slowly sinking, this is most likely caused from air in the brake line. Make sure you bleed the brake lines and check for any possible leaks.
Hello, I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid and noticed
When replacing the pads, you should have placed brake grease on the back of the pad where it makes connection with the caliper. If you forgot, this is most likely why you still hear a squeak in the brakes.
Raw gas coming out of the exhaust
Does check engine light come on? If so go to pep boys and diagnose.. free to check. without looking at it could be bad catalytic converter.
