No hot air from air vents
Do you know if the engine is warming up ?Is the radiator full of coolant ?Are both heater hoses getting hot ?If yes to all of these questions, it could be a blend door problem under the dash.
How to bleed rad 2006 ranger 4.0
If there is no bleeder screw near the thermostat housing, the normal process is to run the engine at idle with the radiator cap loose until the thermostat opens at 195 degrees. The excess air will escape out the threads of the cap. It could take 30 min or longer to warm up the engine.

Temperature not stable
Check the coolant level, this can be caused by a low coolant level due to a leak in the cooling system.

Is the blower blowing? if not could be a blown fuse or bad blower. If the blower is working make sure your coolant level is full, If both of theese things check out , you may have a vacume line loose somewhere that controls the duct witch controls it to change to defrost ,vent or hot to cold.
Location of both temperature sensors
put the truck up on ramps today, and look at it from underneath,there is a one wire sender, At the back of the block that is the oil sending unit. It is about 1.5" in diameter and has a gold stud coming out of it. Then down 2 inches, and towards the front 2-3 inches, under the intake manifold, but still on the block, is another unit. It is about 3/4" diameter, and also has a gold stud coming out of it. There is one wire and it is red with white stripes. that is one of the coolant sensors,
in the coolant lines coming out of the firewall for the heater, there is a sensor spliced in. It is located right above the alternator,
Look for a 2-wire sensor with LG/R and GY/R color wires.
