2000 F150 cranks but won't start, like no fuel or spark

I just moved it in the driveway. Washed the outside only, and now the engine turns over, but it won't start. The red battery light is on. When the ignition is turned from off to on the gauges peg for about 2 seconds and then settle. I measured 13V at the battery and cleaned the terminals.

what P0453-Evaporative Emission control System Pressure Sensor h

what P0453 -Evaporative Emission Control system pressure Sensor High Input means?

Answer

P0453 is for the fuel tank pressure sensor. This code means that the voltage on the sensor was greater than 4.5V during key on engine off or during any engine operating mode.
Normal voltage from this sensor with no vacuum or pressure on the system should be 2.37 to 2.97V.
PCM sends a reference voltage of 5V to the sensor and tells if there is pressure or vacuum in the fuel tank by the voltage that returns from the sensor.

Possible causes are:

  • FTP circuit open
  • VREF shorted to VPWR
  • Damaged PCM
  • FTP circuit shorted to VREF or VPWR
  • SIG RTN circuit open
  • Damaged FTP sensor

  • Usually it is a loose connector at the sensor or a bad sensor.
It mounts on top of the fuel tank, has a 3 wire connector. To replace it you have to push down on it and twist,if I remember right CC.

Vehicle Speed Sensor The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) (Figure 43) is a variable reluctance or Hall-effect sensor that generates a waveform with a frequency that is proportional to the speed of the vehicle. If the vehicle is moving at a relatively low velocity, the sensor produces a signal with a low frequency. As the vehicle velocity increases, the sensor generates a signal with a higher frequency. The PCM uses the frequency signal generated by the VSS (and other inputs) to control such parameters as fuel injection, ignition control, transmission/transaxle shift scheduling and torque converter clutch scheduling.

    For the 4R70W trans vehicles

    Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is model dependent. Possible sources of vehicle speed input are, anti-lock brake sensor (ABS), a gear-driven vehicle speed sensor (VSS), or the transmission output shaft speed (OSS) sensor. On 4x4 applications with a manual shift transfer case, the transfer case speed sensor is the source of vehicle speed. The VSS signal is either an AC signal whose frequency changes with vehicle speed, or an SCP data message depending on the source. Some vehicles have both. The vehicle speed signal is an input to various vehicle sub-systems such as the powertrain control module (PCM), instrument cluster (speedometer and odometer), speed control systems, etc. The vehicle speed source must be operational to enter output state control mode for diagnostics.

If you have a 4R100 trans, it is different.

    • sends the PCM a signal indicating engine temperature.
    • resistance decreases as coolant temperature increases.
The ECT measures the temperature of the engine coolant. The sensor is threaded into an engine coolant passage.

Your head may be leaking exhaust into your coolant during the compression stroke. Have you had new heads installed or maybe an overhaul? Has your Truck been overheating lately? This can be a sign of failing head gaskets since gas only enters through the carburetor or injectors.

There are three, locate your power distribution box under the hood on the left hand fender well, in side this box locate fuse number 5, the row of fuses closest to the fender and from the rear of the vehicle the third one in that row is number 5. Also number 19 and 20, look all the way in front of the box find a group of four fuses, from the front the second fuse is 19 and directly across is number 20. This information comes from your owners manual, Roadside Emergency section. If you do not have a manual, you can go to www.fleet.ford.com, using the maintenance tab select manuals and enter your vehicle and download it for free. Hope this helps, let me know.

The heater fan motor quit on my 2002 Ford F-150

The heater fan motor quit on my 2002 Ford F-150 Super Cab and I can't find a fuse for it. How do I repair it?

Owners manual lists the fuses as :
    Engine compartment fuse # 105, 40A
    - This is the power to the blower motor relay to drive the blower.

Cab Fuse Panel, Fuse #22, 10A. This is the power to the switch in the HVAC panel.
    - This fuse through the switch to operate the relay coil on the blower motor relay.

The other thing to check is the blower motor resistor, to see if there is any damage to it ( usually this is the blower only works on high )
This is behind the glove box
