I removed my instrument cluster from my 1997 ford Taurus and now it won't shift out of first gear
Your car has went into a fail safe mode, either one because the speedo is not the proper gear ratio for that particular vehicle, not all of them were the same, it depends on the exact model. For instance, a Tarus SE is different from a Tarus LE / SE / on and on, and if the gear ration is not correct, then the TCM will not ssend a signal to the shift solenoids to do their job thus the car wont shift. It sounds to me like your original issue may have been that the speedometer didn't function or work at the cluster, ad you've made repairs to the wrong part. Change your Spped Sensor, and it will be ok, IF the cluster is for that particular vehicle. If it is the proper part, your only issue is the speed sensor. I changed te head on my Mitsubishi colt 2800 TDI, when I put the head back all timing marks were aligned properly, ie crankshaft and camshaft, I did not check ful pump timing, will this be aligned cor
Was the pump timing Mark linger up as well ? Usually if you align the crank , cam , and fuel pump you don't ususlly have a drama, since you didn't check the pump I would say it would have sprung back on the cam and springs inside the pump and would be out a few teeth, you will need to recheck the timing, you may also need to re time the pump as well, I'm assuming it a VE pump! If you don't check you will probably won't start or will run very rough, hope this helps

1997 Taurus ford GL 3.0,6cyl. Heat runs cold to
Some early cars have what is referred to as a hot water valve under the hood . It is hooked in one of the heater hoses , the supply side . The other hose is the return side , once the hot coolant goes through the heater core it goes back to the engine to get heated up again. This hot water valve is operated by engine vacuum. If you look at the fire wall or bulkhead , you should see two hoses going into the inside of the vehicle. those are the heater hoses. look for the valve on one of them. If you vehicle doesn't have one of this valves , you possibly have a mode or blend door problem . Does you car
have Electronic Automatic Temperature Control or manual A/C-heater system ? The heater blower does work , all speeds ?
Do I have to change the whole headlight or can I just change the bulb?
Typically lights don't just go dim. If your headlights are dim, you could actually have a alternator/battery charging problem. I would have your battery and alternator tested ASAP! Because if your alternator is bad, your car will die when the battery runs out of juice, which could leave you stranded.

INTERIOR LIGHTS WONT GO OFF. KILLING BATTERY.
Probably bad headlamp switch. You do know most have a position which turns the interior lights on even with the doors closed, don't you? If you have this turned off, but lights stay on, replace the switch.
