How is the timeing marks r aline 19992.5 ford ranger
At the front of the engine you will find a pulley that will drive the belts to run the water pump, alternator, power steering pump, air conditioner, etc. This pulley is called the 'Harmonic Balancer' and is actually 2 pieces pressed together on a rubber bush which acts as a 'shock absorber' for the engine. This pulley is marked with several lines to indicate the position of the engine rotation, measured in degrees. The longest line usually indicates TDC (Top Dead Centre of piston No 1). The other lines indicate where ignition should fire (Usually between 5-10 degrees before TDC) and where valves are opened and closed (before and after TDC) both ignition and valve timing vary depending on engine/camshaft configuration. The lines on the harmonic balancer will align with a pointer that is cast into the timing cover.
Transmission shifting problem
possibly the wire has broken inside the shifter where the wire comes out, then goes in the column cover. happens a lot. you need a new shift lever assy. the lamp should go out when you turn the vehicle off, unless they are shorted together, which then you can disconnect the plug under the shroud or column cover.........jim

I would suspect that you have a failing fuel pump, the fuel pump pressure is bleeding off due to a faulty check valve, this causes hard starting esp when cold or after sitting. The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be removed to replace the fuel pump assembly.

Interior lights won't turn off
It seems like you have a bad door switch. The switch is located in one side or the other of the door post. Using a continuity tester on the terminal end of each switch should show you which one needs to be replaced. You need to determine which one of the wires is the feed and which is the supply. Leaving the supply lead connected, put the ground clip of the connector on a ground and disconnect the feed lead. Put the probe end of the tester on the feed terminal and push the switch in - if it is good, the tester light will go out when the switch tip is depressed. It is not too difficult to replace, but you will need to be careful not to lose either of the wires in the door post - tying them with a piece of string will help to keep them accessible.
Headlights wont work on dim, only bright
Check your head light bulbs, your truck has the dual filiment headlight bulbs one per side which does both high beam and low beam, 9007 bulbs.
If the low beam filiments are burned out only the high beam will work.
Also look into finding out if the headlight switch is gone bad.
The headlight module and or drl module maybe defective.
