Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Make sure your battery is holding a proper charge. Now, you need to clean your terminals and clean your post. Make sure the battery terminal ends are not loose or damaged. You could have a weak alternator. Here is how to test it. Start the vehicle and remove the hot side terminal on the battery (red color) If the car dies instantly, you have a bad alternator. If it stays on, you have a bad connection to the battery or a bad battery.

Make sure coolant is full .check thermostat .check sensor and its connection .wiggle the wiring harness as a helper watching the gauge for you.Check if there is any coolant leak. Also check if radiator cooling fan is working or not.--
But if actually the car is not overheating, then either the temperature gauge sensor wire has been disturbed and is giving a false reading or maybe your thermostat is defective. Have you added coolant lately? If so, you might have air in the cooling system that needs to be bled out. But first check your engine temperature sensor and make sure the connection is good. You can always test your coolant's actual temperature with a mechanic's thermometer.--------------

Signs of a bad water pump? loosing coolant.
Losing coolant can be attributed to a few things. Can be a leaking water pump. Does the area below the water pump look damp? May be a seal failure. Could be a leaking hose. Do you have any wet spots under the car after you are parked? May be a leaking heater core. In the passanger side footwell carpet damp? Do you smell a sweet odor? Or could be a head or manifold gasket. Check your oil. Is it cloudy or do you see water drops on the dipstick? Is the engine running rough? Do you have an excess amount of "steam" coming from your tail pipe? Those are the first areas to look. Let me know and we can continue to diagnose from there.

There was a big Recall on Subframes with notifications going out to select States. The recall is 98V323000. I had a subframe come apart while driving. The Recall took care of everything including Towing. However, with the dropping of the cradle, my A/C lines were damaged and they would not cover that.
The exact problem was rust would reduce the diameter of the washer and the rubber mounts would slip out. I know I lost parts on the road, so the Dealer must have that stuff in the Recall kit. They will need to run the Vin#. The Recall was in 1998.
Where is the water pump?
Locate your serpintine (fan) belt. Your water pump will be right behind this belt bolted to your engine block.
