Ford 460 - no spark

I've got a 460 in a 38' RV. The previous owner left the ignition key on for a few days and burned up something. I've replaced the distributor (with pick-up module), the coil, the ignition module (on firewall), and still no spark. I've got 12v at BOTH terminals of the coil, but can't find a ground problem either. HELP!! I have an 89 F 250 with the 460. The water pump went out. I replaced the water pump and now the truck won't start. There is no spark. I replaced the coil and still nothing. What is the next step? It's fuel injected and I was told that it still has points that I should check. Is that true?

Since the distributor is in the front on the 460 and you replaced the water pump check the connection plug coming from the distributor. If you disconnected it when removing the water pump you may not have made the connection tight enough to complete the connection. Look for pinched wires also. And your engine does not have points. You have a breakerless ignition system in the distributor. The air gap should be set at 8 thousands of an inch. Check the gap. Good luck.

the filter is located approx under the driver on the inside of the frame rail, I think you have plastic fuel line retaining clips in this year, so no tool required. see photo

If your ignition switch is bad in your steering column, and the starter does not engage when the key is turned forward, then this is a quick fix for you.
BE SURE THE BATTERY IS DISCONECTED BEFORE YOU START WIRING. You can run some heave gauge (18 plus, and about 12 feet of it) wire to the top mount and the rear mount on the starter solenoid (one end of the wire to each, making a loop) Run the wire into the interior of the truck, and then install a toggle switch in the loop of wire. You will still have to turn on the key to engage the motor, but it will not start until you flip the toggle. That should get you by until you can replace the ignition switch in the column.

1989 F-250 5.8L 351W ''Rough Idle/Stalling''

I just had an 1989 F-250 given to me by my boss. When I got it, it didnt start. I had to jump it to get it to turn over but it just cranked (no start). It has a new IIAC valve. I replaced the ignition module on the distributor and it started right up. Now it will start every time i turn the key, but it will not stay running until it warms up which is impossible unless I'm on the gas to keep it alive to get it warm. It runs normal for 10 seconds or so then sputters and dies, also the check engine light flickers around mid-range rpm's while im on the gas to keep it running. Once its warmed up it will run only in park as soon as i put it in gear it stalls unless I use two feet. while in park it revs up then back down and comes close to stalling and then picks back up, which pointed me in the direction of a vacuum leak. I also replaced the cap and rotor as well as a handfull of vacuum lines, and am still having the same problem. I have been working on vehicles for most of my life and this truck is driving me nuts. I'm sure its something that I'm just overlooking. If anyone can provide some help it would be great. I'm out of work because of this and I really cant afford to be. Any hints or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Steve.

This should be in the owner's manual. I found the below on autozone.com, their repair help location:
An inertia switch is used as a safety device in the fuel system. The inertia switch is located in the cab, generally under the dashboard on the right side. It is designed to open the fuel pump power circuit in the event of a collision. The switch is reset by pushing each of 2 buttons on the switch simultaneously (some models use switches with only one reset button). The inertia switch should not be reset until the fuel system has been inspected for damage or leaks.
When the ignition switch is ON , it turns the EEC power relay ON . The EEC power relay provides power to the powertrain control module (PCM) and the control side of the fuel pump relay. Power for the fuel pump(s) is supplied through a fuse link or high current fuse attached to the starter solenoid (battery side). From the fuse link or high current fuse, current flows through the fuel pump relay and inertia switch to the fuel pump(s). The fuel pump relay is controlled by the PCM.
When the ignition switch is turned ON , the fuel pump(s) will operate. If the ignition switch is not turned to the START position the PCM will shut the fuel pump(s) OFF after 1 second. The PCM will operate the fuel pump(s) operate the fuel pump(s) when the ignition switch is turn to START position to provide fuel while cranking.
After the engine starts, the PCM will continue to operate the fuel pump(s) unless the engine stops, drops below 120 rpm or the inertia switch is tripped.
