Ford 250 1983 diesel/new starter, battery..no crank/squealing noise

can you turn the engine by hand by putting a socket on the crank nut. ? also is the battery working correctly ? check the earth and live lines check they have a good connection. when you replaced the starter motor did you check the condition of the flywheel and warn cogs can be a problem also some flywheels used to be none fixed. meaning they were heated on to the flywheel .and if its loose it will just slip on the flywheel.

When to replace transmission oil

If the trans. Has alot of miles on it and hasn't ever been changed .then don't change it . It would do more harm than good .

Fuel Relays failing constantly

check the prongs where the relay plugs in- if corrosion or crud clean and check power --with the new pump check those connections are clean and check for chafing or damaged wiring --the fuel pump may be laboring and pulling higher amps and over heating relay new doesnt mean free from defects --fuel pump overheating and popping relay

1983 F250 will crank but not start

timing may be way off, distributor rotor may not be pointing at no. 1 distributor cap contactor when no. 1 piston is at top dead center. Also, confirm your spark plug wiring order on dist. cap is correct.

When i had run out of gas in the front fuel tank does the rear tank automatically take over

there should be a tank switch valve that has to be activated for the tanks to switch. keep in mind that these have had problems with the switch valves.

On an '83, you have to manually switch the tanks to engage the other tank. The switch should be located under the dash on your left hand side.

1983 Ford F250 will start but won't idle without holding down gas

hi! there, its really help good of replacing old ones,perhaps the condition of current flow to ignite continously your combustion due insuffcient current supply from your ignition system could positively stop your engine,if you maintain this ignition system the engine won't stop running.in such a case this type of model need mostly to be tune up some internal part on the head cylinder should take place of correctnes such as intake and exhaust valve,the rocker arm seat valve and spurk plug.if you done this your worry will be lessen.have a nice day.

No Fuel Gauge Or Fuel Gauge Not Working

I would start by accessing the wires going to the fuel tank check both ground as well as resistor wires going to the fuel tank if these are ok its probably the fuel sending unit located inside the fuel tank

I have a 1983 f 250 with a 6 cylinder in it. The question is... wil a 390,360, or 351, bolt up and can i use the original bell housing and ******?

Overall, no.The bell housing for a 6 cyl is usually different from a V8, and car engines usually have different motor mount configurations.Not to say you can't find a V8 that will fit, but I doubt it.
