How do I replace a 1987ford bronco 302 timing chain cover
You have to remove the water pump and the harmonic balancer. Use the correct puller do not try to hammer or pry it off, if you do it will separate sometimes and ruin it. Then just remove the bolts to the cover. It may help to take out the 2 bolts to the front of the oil pan.
Ford bronco timing chain cover bolts
I dont understand how the other posters answered this question. the OP clearly says Ford bronco timing chain cover bolts but the replys all relate to water pump bolts. how does that happen ?
Full pump runs all the time
It should run all the time that the engine is running. But taken literally you might mean the pump runs even after shutting off the engine, that would prob be a stuck relay. under the hood on the driver side is the relay and fuse box. It has a black lid under the lid is also a diagram of what each relay is for. Just pull the hot relay LOL cause its been on for a while.
Show location feul relay
Its in the engine compartment in a black covered box on the driver side near the brake master cylinder. The lid pops off and there are several relays and fuses. Their placement is on the lid. To test the fuel pump you can pull the horn relay and use it as a test.
1987 Bronco smokes
I dont know why those other answers are assuming you have a diesel engine. Try a compression test to see if you have a broken or stuck ring on a piston. Also look at the carb to see if the choke if staying wide open.
302 bronco stalls after it warms up and won't start till it cools down
I am guessing its your TFI or Thick Film Ignition module. Usually located on the underside of your distributor, its either grey or black in color and often when it is going bad it acts like this: Usually starts fine, runs ok for about 20 min then engine dies. cranking engine sounds normal but no start. checking spark will have no sparks. Leave hood up and allow to cool (also TFI very hot to the touch) I packed Ice around it once (in a ziplock) that made it run in about 45 min. NOTE: get ready to replace real soon because its on the way to breaking down.
4WD Problem
Shut off the vehicle. Place the transfer case indicator into whatever gear you want and then start the vehicle. You placed the transfer case into neutral while the engine was running in gear that's why all the grinding.
