battery cable goeas to the right side of the solenoid, starter cable to the other, and ignition wire goes on the left small stud sticking out of the front of the solenoid
Check the website for Autozone to get wiring diagrams free. If starter spins but doesn't engage, it is a bad starter drive located on the shaft of your starter. The solenoid is only there to spin the starter on a Ford. The centrifugal force engages the starter gear.
Could be as simple as a vacuum leak from old hoses.
The carb WILL become DAMAGED from ethanol fuel.
DO NOT use that in a vehicle that sits.
Some premium gas has no ethanol, find it and use only it.
A good engine an worth spending a little money on.

1993 Ford F-150 broken shifter tube replacement made easy.Broken shifter repair for under $60.00 ...
you have problems my friend it sounds like valve problems like burnt valve or timing is way out either way you need to have checked by reputable mechanic
You need to check the fuel pump cutoff switch (located in kick panel), see if the wires to the switch are burned and melted, if they are buy a repair connector from Ford and replace the switch. Also the ignition starter switches in this truck have a habit of coming apart and causing a loss of power to the fuel pump or the ignition system. The switch is operated by a long rod from the ignition lock cylinder and it mounted to the steering column tube down near the bottom of column
