'97 Maxima Windshield wiper problems

Check to make sure your fuse is set all the way down first. Could be a bad ground too. Check the wiring at the wiper motor and maybe clean the ground and terminals with either alcohol or electric cleaner and make sure the are dry before you plug it back in. It sounds like a power to the wiper motor issue. If that doesn't fix it your wiper motor may have an internal short.

97 maxima won't start, battery, alternator, and

Yes, most likely the switch but possibly the anti-theft system. You can be more sure by checking the wires as they come out of the steering column. Use a multi meter or test light to see if there is power on the start wire when you're having the problem. It's the black wire with a white stripe if you have a stick and black with yellow stripe for auto trans. Your switch is not difficult to replace. There is a short procedure on autozone.com. 0900c152800764b0-wluoib2fbobh5x5kwx4vorfg-3-0.gif

Your voltage regulator is probably the problem. I do not know where it is. In some cars it is in the engine controller.
